Let's Bake - Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies!

 

I baked these cookies a couple of weeks ago and thought they were absolutely amazing. Who doesn't want to mix two of the best cookies in the world, Oreos and Chocolate Chip, to create the ultimate in guilty pleasures? They were such a success and really easy to make. Best ate warm from the oven with a cup of cold milk, these cookies will please all hearts. All you need is the ingredients shown above. I followed this recipe myself and it worked perfectly.


I highly recommend measuring out all your ingredients to start off with. It makes the baking process so much easier and more enjoyable which ultimately means it's less stressful!

 

The first step is to combine both of the sugars with the softened butter in a bowl. I used an electric whisk as it's quicker and easier.

 

Then add your eggs and whisk again to create a loose consistency like this. Don't worry if it looks a little lumpy. Mine was but it turned out fine.

 

In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and salt. You now need to add the wet mixture to the dry mixture slowly to combine everything together.

 

I found the easiest way to do this was to scoop some mixture into the flour, add some chocolate chips at the same time and mix that in, before adding a little bit more of each until they are all combined.

Your mixture may look a little bit dry but resist the temptation to add milk or water. It will all come together in the end - trust me. Just scoop up some mixture in your hand and shape it into a ball which you can then place on either side of an Oreo like shown in the photo below.

 

All you need to do now is squeeze the sides of the cookie dough together so that the Oreo is hidden in the middle. It should look something a little like what is shown below.

 

Pop them on a tray covered in greaseproof paper. Then they can be put into the oven to get all golden, chewy and yummy.

 

Don't forget to set the oven to around 160C for a fan and let them cook for 9-13 minutes, or until golden brown.

 

And voila! You should end up with something that looks a little like this. As I say, they are at their best when they are warm and fresh out of the oven. If you leave them to cool, the Oreo will go hard again. If you prefer it soft like me, just whack your cookie in the microwave for 20 seconds and it should soften back up again.


These are great for sharing with mates. Watch their surprise as they bite into a cookie and realise there's something more to it. Good times had by all.
