Book Worm #23 - I Heart Christmas by Lindsey Kelk

I've been trying to finish reading this book for over a year now. If you ask my best friend Becky, she will tell you how completely unacceptable that is. But through all my efforts, life and work has got in the way. Anyway, when the clock struck twelve on New Year's Day, I made a point of finding some time to finish this book and there have been no regrets.

Just like every other I Heart novel that Lindsey has written, this one's a corker. Her witty humour and quick responses make this a must read for any girl. If you want Christmas to last a little bit longer, I suggest setting aside some time to yourself in front of a cozy fire with a hot chocolate, and getting your nerd on for some quality time with Kelk.

Angela Clark is back again, but this time it's Christmas and with Angela that means business. Nothing could mess up this magical holiday of wonder and joy, could it? Well it's time to find out as we follow her through her build up to Christmas and learn about all things that test her.

Angela deals with arguments, life-changing news and psycho assistants all before having her bagel for breakfast. But when she ends up hanging half naked from a ceiling air vent in an empty apartment, in desperate need for a wee, times really do get testing. How will Angela get out of this one, and does she really want to risk the air vent being sloped and said wee making it's way back to her if she decides her bladder is weaker than her resistance for chocolate chip cookies?

Angela is both a character to relate to and aspire to (even having said all that about the air vent!). In this latest book her career progression becomes clear and she really comes into her own. Plus, there's a pep talk from Angela's friend Delia at the end of the book which I believe every reader can take something from.

If you've read the rest of the I Heart books, you will know all about this storyline and how entirely humorous and enjoyable it is. Sometimes follow-up books can fall by the wayside and come up short compared to the original story, but in my opinion Kelk has done an incredibly good job of keeping the gripped-to-the-page factor at an all time high.

Although this novel was a great round off to a brilliant series, I don't want it to end! So Lindsey, if you're reading this, please god write some more!

Until then, I'm off to read About A Girl, the first book in her next series which was released around 18 months ago. Yes I'm that far behind the times. Yikes!
