L'Occitane Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner

I wasn't holding any expectations for this shampoo and conditioner. I'm not really sure why but I instinctively thought that it wouldn't wow me or make me want to purchase it. I've never really heard anything about L'Occitane Shampoos and Conditioners so it was not really a brand I turned to before when it came to anything but body care.

However, when I picked up my free sample of their Almond Milk Concentrate with the voucher I pulled out of a magazine, the sales assistant was lovely enough to give me a couple samples to try, including this shampoo and conditioner set.

Aimed at repairing and restoring your hair, this haircare duo contains 5 essential oils - angelica, lavender, geranium, patchouli and ylang-ylang. The shampoo is silicone free and contains wheat proteins whilst the conditioner is formulated with sweet almond oil for extra softness and shine.

I couldn't put my finger on the scent of this when I was actually using it, but after having read up about it, I can definitely say now that I got a strong smell of lavender. I'm not lavender's biggest fan which explains why I wasn't particularly drawn to the scent but I can imagine others enjoying it.

The shampoo did lather but still felt quite thin in my hair to start with. I didn't necessarily feel like my hair was incredibly clean after washing it twice. The conditioner didn't seem that thick or moisturising either. It coated my hair, just about, but washing it out didn't feel as luxurious as rinsing a conditioner normally does.

Having said all that, I'm perfectly happy with the results. My hair does feel clean and lightweight which I like. I wouldn't say it was over the top when it comes to shine or softness, but generally it did the job. With regards to repairing properties, I couldn't really say. It's hard to judge after just one application, which is all you are given in the sachet. I can't say I've noticed a difference immediately but I can imagine that with prolonged use this product could definitely strengthen your hair.

I'm not really getting a pull from the product to buy it again. However, for a healthy-hair alternative which contains great ingredients, it might be worth checking out.
