Free with last month's Instyle Magazine (the May issue which you might still be able to get your hands on if you hurry) was a voucher for a 50ml sample of L'Occitane's Almond Milk Concentrate. Naturally I wanted to get my mitts on a pot as I can never say no to a free beauty sample - especially such a decent sized one from such a well known brand.
I love me some body butters, lotions and potions so this was always going to be right up my street. It was just going to be a case of how long it takes to absorb, how my skin feels afterwards and ultimately how long the hydration lasts.
The lady in the store was so lovely and let me test some then and there from a sample which was already open. She introduced me to their new range of perfumes too and got me absolutely hooked on their Neroli and Orchid Perfume, but that's going a bit off track.
I knew immediately that the concentrate was going to be an instant gratification product. My skin felt very silky and smooth straight away. There was no greasy residue and the fragrance was lovely. However I was still interested in getting it home and putting it through its paces.
It's a little thicker than other milks I've tried. It certainly resembles more of a lotion-to-gel texture which I find quite pleasant. It's a light formulation which massages into the skin like a dream and leaves you with that instant cashmere feeling.
What's important to me is that the silky feeling lasts - and it did. For the next few days to come my skin still felt very hydrated and smooth. What I'm excited about now is to see whether it has any affect on toning my skin and making it look more firm. The lady in the store said it was great for those benefits, and when mixed with their Almond Shower Oil, it was a huge winner.
I can imagine this product being the perfect fit for a summer moisturiser. I've tried quite a few lotions and potions recently that I've said that about, like the Campos De Ibiza Almond Milk which I've received in my Birchbox last month. But I definitely feel like this one trumps them all and will be the one I really lean towards as we hopefully watch the temperatures soar in the next couple of months.
Yes, I'm very aware I live in rainy England, but a girl can hope!
Having used limited products from L'Occitane, I'm certainly intrigued to try more from the brand. If you have any recommendations of products to try, please let me know :)
