Dove Intensive Repair Self Warming Mask

After seeing this product on my friend Emma's blog and hearing about how much she loved it I knew I had to give it a try. Plus, with all the hair masks I have been trying out recently, it only seemed fair to give this one a go too.

The Dove Intensive Repair Self Warming Mask aims to repair hair at the deepest level by using 'Keratin Repair Actives'. These penetrate the hair and help to restore it to it's natural strength with extra shine. The mask also claims to help hair be more resilient to future damage.

Sounds lovely to me!

The mask works in two stages. After washing your hair you simply apply the sachet of product to the mid lengths and ends of your locks. Once this has been applied you can then snap off the top of the liquid serum and apply this straight on top of the mask. You leave both of these products on for 3 minutes before throughly rinsing them off.

The mask in the sachet is just like a conditioner. There is a generous amount given which I absolutely adored as I felt like it could really cover each strand of hair. Considering my hair is incredibly thick, I was impressed that it actually managed to cover all of it. The serum I struggled with a bit. Turns out that the cap on the top isn't that easy to snap off when you've got wet hands. I almost lost all of the serum when the top finally snapped back.

When applying this serum, I instantly felt the heat as soon as it touched my skin. It was more of a warming sensation that lasted 2-3 seconds before returning to a normal temperature. It was really nice and relaxing when I applied it to my hair as the heat felt very welcoming and made me feel like the mask was actually going to do something.

After I rinsed out the product when the 3 minutes were up, my hair felt addictively soft - almost similar to the feeling after using the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth 60 Second Treatment Shot.

My hair felt so smooth and definitely looked shiner, though perhaps not as shiny as it could have been. However running my fingers through it felt a lot like cashmere. I don't think I fully appreciate how amazing this mask is because I've been giving my hair a lot of treatments recently but it certainly is one of the better ones I've tried.

Having said all that, I do wish that it left my hair looking a little bit healthier. Although it does look sleek and have a nice sheen, I feel like it could certainly look a lot healthier. Especially considering the mask aims to repair the hair.

I found the 3 minutes wait a little inconvenient but this was my only annoyance. I know it's a short amount of time but I felt like I had to count the three minutes to make sure I didn't run over which meant that i'd be in the middle of washing my body and would have to rinse the mask out. Therefore I ended up standing in the shower waiting. Either way, the TRESemmé shot provided similar benefits to this one for half the price and half the waiting time so I'd definitely consider using that one on a more regular basis and this Dove version as more of a treat.
