This is the second product I have tried from the Aromatherapy Associates brand. The first one was the Revive Body Gel which aims to help skin appear more even and aid circulation. Personally I wasn't that taken by it. However, these bath and shower oils are meant to be the creme de la creme of Aromatherapy's products. They are often spoken about at Christmas time when the gift sets are released and my intrigue has always peaked at this time. I'm happy that I now get the chance to test one for myself and see first hand what the fuss is all about.
The Revive Morning Oil aims to help refresh and invigorate you for the day ahead. Interestingly enough, it is said to help with jet lag which could be useful for the months ahead when everyone is heading away on holiday.
My initial consensus was that you were to pour the oil into your bath before you got in it. Therefore you can understand why I couldn't see this working in a shower. But contrary to my belief, you actually apply the oil to your body before you take your bath/shower instead.
The scent is described as pink grapefruit, rosemary and juniper berry, but honestly all I smelt was Vicks (that stuff that helps you breath when you've got a blocked nose?). It was pleasant enough to be honest with you, but perhaps not something I would immediately pick for myself.
After applying the oil to my body from this lovely little glass bottle, I stepped into the shower and continued as usual with washing my hair and conditioning it before rinsing my body with a shower gel and a luffa.
What interested me was that I didn't feel terribly greasy. I expected the oil to make my skin extremely slimy but it didn't. Although it's not a dry oil, I felt it definitely leant more towards that side of things. Rinsing the product off was very easy and I was left with lovely soft feeling skin afterwards.
The choice of whether to moisturise after your bath/shower is optional. I decided to opt out on this occasion to see how hydrated my skin felt just using the oil. Over all it felt happy and healthy. The oil wasn't the most nourishing product I've ever used when it comes to moisture but it was certainly comfortable.
In conclusion, I feel like this product is a bit of a luxury. It's not necessarily something I would rush out and buy because I need it in my every day life. But I can imagine it being a nice treat for those mornings when you need a little bit of a pick me up. In general I didn't find it that awakening but it certainly felt like a treat to use, which in turn made me feel a lot better. It's funny how little things like that work isn't it.
I can see why this would make a lovely gift and why it is so popular around Christmas time. It would certainly be the perfect treat for any bath and body lover.
