Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

I purchased this brush back in the November/December period when all the pre-Christmas offers were on. But since then it has been left it it's box, unused and feeling a little unloved no doubt. I bought it specifically for my liquid foundation days, but have had very few of those over the winter season so far. Having said that, when I rediscovered this purchase in my bag of things to try, I really got in the mood to give this brush a run for it's money, so I whipped out my Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation. Since that day, I have been wearing my liquid foundation applied using this brush religiously.

Prior to my new Real Techniques purchase I was using a dense Sigma F80 Kabuki Brush. I absolutely love that brush for applying liquid foundation as it makes it really easy to buff the product into your skin so that it looks flawless. Unfortunately because it is so dense, it not only soaks up a fair amount of product but it can prove tricky to clean too. These are the only two reasons why I started to investigate what other tools I could use to apply my makeup. I soon came across the Expert Face Brush as it seemed the general consensus was that this was only acceptable brush to apply your foundation with.

I have to admit, I can completely see what all the fuss is about. The first thing I notice is that it acts like a foundation brush and a kabuki in one. It's thiner than a normal kabuki which gives it its foundation brush/paintbrush qualities, but it is dense and rounded on the top which gives it a kabuki feel too. Therefore you can glide the product on using the edge and then move up onto the top of the brush to buff it into the skin. The results are flawless, and you are left with that second-layer-of-skin look which I always strive for with liquids.

I've not noticed any shedding, but I've not been using the brush that long. However I do know that it's easy to clean and completely worth the reasonable price tag. You can pay so much for brushes these days, so it's nice to know that there is quality out there at an affordable price. I really believe that the products you use are only as good as the tools you use to apply them with in certain cases. This brush seems like the perfect option for the money-concious beauty-mad. Although I use it for foundation, I can imagine it working just as well for cream blushers/powder blushers and even contouring if you're clever with the way you use it.
