Ren Active 7 Radiant Eye Gel

When I repurchased my Ren ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser the other week from SpaceNK, the shop assistant picked out a variety of samples for me to try. Needing no encouragement to take full advantage of the products on offer, I thanked her politely as she wrapped everything up and popped it into a gorgeous little shopping bag.

From my lovely choice of mini day creams, night creams, gels and masks, I decided to hit up this Radiant Eye Gel first. I've been testing out the Soap and Glory Puffy Eye Attack very recently and really enjoyed the change of a lighter gel texture. Therefore I figured it would be the perfect time to rival these two products against each other as they both claim to be rather similar.

S&G's version was more of a cream/gel type formulation whereas this Ren product is definitely more of a runny transparent gel. Apart from that they both have a lot in common. Once applied they feel really thin and water-like underneath the eye. Both products claim to help with puffiness whilst cooling and soothing the eye area and generally making it look a lot smoother and firmer. Advantages of S&G's Eye Gel is that it helps to boost collagen production and kickstarts your under-eye circulation to help you achieve that wrinkle-free look. Having said that, Ren's Active 7 Radiant Eye Gel can be worn over makeup... I've not tried it over makeup. I feel like I haven't discovered a time where I genuinely feel like I need to pop on some eye gel during the day.... But that's beside the point? It can be done.

With regards to application, they both absorb pretty quickly. Ren's product can leave your skin feeling a bit taut but that doesn't last very long. That's the only differentiation I can find on that point. Having said that, I feel like S&G definitely helps more with my puffy eyes than Ren does. The Puffy Eye Attack literally felt like magic when I applied it as my bags were visibly reduced. I just don't get that same feeling from Ren. I give Ren it's due though, it does a just as good of a job at hydrating as S&G's product. And perhaps if I had to push myself I would say that it does a slightly better job of reducing the look of my wrinkles. Honestly though, they are both pretty much neck and neck. If you like the idea of being able to apply the product over makeup then Ren's eye gel might be the product for you. Having said that there is a considerable price difference and for what you actually achieve I would probably just stick to the Soap and Glory Puffy Eye Attack.

But in conclusion, neither of them actually compare remotely to my beloved Clarins Extra Firming Eye Wrinkle Smoothing Cream which has completely stole my heart. I can't wait to use up everything else just so that I can get back to my holy grail. What a review twister that was!

And in the words of Jeremy Clarkson, on that bombshell let me know your thoughts on the products above, or your eye cream of choice down below :)

  1. Really interesting post. I am always on the look out for a new day eye cream (I have my evening one sorted I think) and I will definitely keep an eye out for the Clarins one. I love the samples you get so useful for testing new products and for travelling! X

    1. The Clarins one is by far the best I've come across. It's pricey but totally worth it if you want something that will really give you results. xxo

  2. I love a lot of the REN products, but like with all brands, not everything and at least for me this eye cream doesn't do very much, but it's been great to try it and now you've got me curious a bout the S&G one instead :o) Xx

    1. I couldn't have said it better myself. You've nailed it there. There's always products I like and dislike from a brand. This product is definitely not perfect but I reckon for early 20's who don't need heavy duty eye cream, it's alright. Having said that, I'd go for S&G every time as it's cheaper and superior in my eyes. If you do try Puffy Eye Attack definitely come and let me know your thoughts because I'd be really interested to hear how you got on. Thanks for dropping by again hun xxo
