Happy New Year Everyone!
One of my lovely Christmas presents last year (feels crazy saying that) was a Facetime gift set by Soap and Glory. Included in that set was a Smooch Operator Lip Butter Balm which was naturally the first product I was going to try out! I know, I'm so predictable right? Anyways, let's skip to the crucial bit - does the lip balm queen like it? Yes, she does indeed. In fact, it reminds me somewhat of the Dior Creme De Rose Lip Balm which I seem to have lost. Let's not go into detail about that though. It's a sore topic.
The balm itself is a really light pink colour, just like the Dior balm, which was the first similarity I noticed about the two products. I find the texture to be quite similar as well. Just like Dior, it seems to be quite a hard product to start with but the more you warm it up the softer it becomes, up to the point where it slips on like a thick gloss. Although it does give you a sheen to the lips, it definitely stands it's ground on the nourishing properties too and that's the most important factor of a lip butter. After a couple of minutes the balm gives a cooling effect, almost like it's got a minty and lip plumping edge. It's ever so subtle but still feels really lovely. What's odd is that it doesn't smell remotely minty. A more accurate scent description would be candy floss! Heaven! The balm creates a sheer baby pink wash of colour on your pout which I adore. It's incredibly flattering and makes this the perfect product to use in the spring for that fresh-faced, healthy look.
Over all I just can't get enough. I enjoy using it so much that I can't really fault it. I would certainly recommend it as a cheaper dupe to the Dior Creme de Rose if you're looking for a high street version that will not break the bank.
