L'Oreal Paris Miss Manga Mascara

When I was in Boots the other day buying my lunch for work a stand of new mascaras caught my eye. At first I wasn't too bothered by it, but then I looked a little closer and realised the mascara was by L'Oreal Paris.

I'm a huge L'Oreal mascara addict as I've found that over the years most of my favourite high street lash products have been from them. There's been Volume Million Lashes, Telescopic and Double Extension to name a few! That's why I instantly snatched this up after realising the brand. There was immediate high hopes and expectations. These were only intensified when I realised it was a Manga mascara. Not being able to really get my hands on Asian products, I got excited that this would be my easy-to-get-hold-of high street dupe for the Majolica Majorca mascara. Having not tested that product I understand that it would probably be difficult to compare, but after reading many reviews I feel like I know what to expect.

We all know that when a new mascara is brought out there is generally a unique selling point attached. Apart from the Manga name of this one, the wand is actually meant to go 360 degrees. Your guess is as good as mine with that though. I had a little play of the clean wand left out to look at when you buy the product and couldn't figure it out myself.

There is a bendy part about half way down the wand which makes the end of the applicator move in different directions under pressure, but I can't understand how that would aid application. I certainly don't feel like it's made the slightest bit of difference to mine, so I guess this is just selling tricks to make it sound more interesting.

Either way, the wand is quite unique. It is tapered off towards the end which reminds me of the Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara I tried out earlier last year. This makes it incredibly easy to get in and grab the inner lashes. It is nice to use that end to catch any outer lashes that may have been missed as well.

Due to that, I do find that each lash gets a good coat of product. However I find that the product can clump up quite a bit on the wand which leads to clumpy lashes if you aren't careful. This might be a desired look for some but I personally prefer volume, length and separation.

I find that this mascara definitely gives me volume and length but the separation can be a bit of a struggle. My lashes don't look too bad in this photo, baring in mind the fact that I can never get a good photo of mascara. I wouldn't recommend this mascara for girls that like to layer mascara as your lashes could look quite spidery very quickly.

It holds a curl nicely throughout the day and does stay very black which are factors that I like. However it does tend to smudge a little which lets it down. I find it really hard to get into products that cause a fuss. Especially when I already know of others that do a great job are aren't any trouble at all.

I do really like the effect that this mascara gives, though I did think it was going to be a little more special. I would certainly use the tube up but I wouldn't say that it was a must have mascara that I would be repurchasing over and over. But truth be told, without the smudging it might have been.

All in all, this product does require a little work. With effort it can look gorgeous and will stay looking nice throughout the day, so long as you keep your eyes open (pun not intended) for smudges.

Have you tried this mascara yet? What are your thoughts?

    1. Yeah I wouldn't say it was the best for putting more than one coat on unfortunately. Sarah below said 2 layers is ok for her though, so you might be alright? xxo

    1. I'd still give it a go whilst it's reasonably priced. I do like it the more I use it. It's just the smudges that annoys me, though it's nothing to extensive thankfully. Haha xxo

  4. I've been really intrigued by this so I'm so glad I've seen your review :) I think your lashes look amazing, but I'm a layering kind of girl so I'm not sure it would suit me based one what you've said. Verrrrrry helpful review in that case, thank you!

  5. I got this the other day, I like it but like you said - if you layer its going to be kind of crappy. 2 layers is fine but more and it goes a bit wrong

    1. Yeah exactly. I found that even after two my lashes were looking quite stuck together. Still, looks nice with one coat I think :) xxo

  6. Gosh, I've seen a lot of pictures of this mascara creating little clumps but you've applied it so neatly!! I love your final result!!! :)
By the way, does the stick wand twist at 360°? I mean: Can it really twist circularly?
I've been curious since the first time I've seen the ad on TV!
    Have a wonderful day
