Apologies again for the lighting in this photo. I run out of natural light a lot these days! :(
I don't know what it is about perfumes recently but every time I spray a new one it reminds me of something or someone in my life. The first time I tested this one, it took me a good 5 minutes to put my finger on what that recognition was. I had both my parents smelling the scent to try and see if they recognised it from somewhere, and then it came to me!
The moment that started my perfume obsession was on a school trip to a museum somewhere. In the gift shop I actually discovered my first rollerball perfume. I picked up a honeysuckle one which I thought smelt heavenly and so the journey began. As soon as I smelt this perfume it took me back to that moment where I was standing in the shop, looking out of the window onto the courtyard and the sunshine and breathing in a heavy honeysuckle fragrance.
I figured I would go and check the notes online to see whether it had honeysuckle in it before I praised myself further for figuring out it's familiarity, not thinking I would be right as I'm terrible at picking out scents. But I was! A strong middle note of honeysuckle is what I first notice about this fragrance and it's really pleasent. It definitely reminds me of school days, even though I'm sure this fragrance is actually aimed at the more sophisticated, mature lady.
It's funny how scents stick with you and can remind you of a certain time or place. Unfortunately for me that means that this perfume doesn't appeal to me so much anymore. I just think '10-year-old' when I smell it which is why I wouldn't gravitate towards it now. Having said that, I'm absolutely positive that it wouldn't create the same reaction with anyone else, as the scent to an outsider with no recognition of honeysuckle would just class this perfume as very floral and grown up.
To make this review more helpful and put a stop to the life story, I figured I would give a breakdown of the notes so you can get an idea of the fragrance yourself.
Top Notes - Mandarin Orange
Middle Notes - Honeysuckle, Jasmine, Lily, Tuberose, Floral Notes
Base Notes - Amber, Musk, Vanilla, Patchouli, Woodsy Notes
I reckon that this would make a lovely present for a mum this Christmas, or a girl who really likes her potent floral perfumes. It's got a really pretty bottle and overall looks very classy so I would definitely recommend it if you're struggling for gift ideas. It wears really well throughout the day, mellowing to let the vanilla fragrance come through which definitely gives it a softer touch that I feel many people will enjoy.
