Soap and Glory Flake Away Body Scrub

This is the first Soap and Glory Scrub I have ever tried. I only recently got into this type of product when I got sent my first ever Etat Pur Scrub. Because that was my first time experiencing a scrub, I  didn't really appreciate how great it was. However since then I have been on a scrub rampage and have tried lots of different kinds that definitely give varied results. Etat Pur is probably still my favourite, with Sanctuary 4 Day Moisture Oil Scrub making a close second. But after seeing that Soap and Glory do a travel version of their Flake Away version, I just knew I had to test it out.

Soap and Glory is overall a well respected brand. I love some of their products like the Hand Food hand cream, and I'm not so keen on others which I have reacted to in the past. I was interested to see how abrasive this scrub was, what it smelt like in the shower and how moisturised it left my skin.

Flake Away actually looks really fine in this picture, but once applied in the shower I found it to be a bit chunky. Etat Pur's scrub is incredibly fine - almost like microbeads in texture - whereas this Soap and Glory version feels quite rough and clumpy. Nevertheless, it gives a great exfoliation and leaves your skin feeling silky smooth and soft.

One thing I didn't like was the smell which came as a huge surprise! I generally really like Soap and Glory for their scents because it reminds me of my signature perfume Miss Dior Cherie. However this one just smelt really strongly of liquorice to me - and I hate liquorice! Everyone really raves about their Sugar Crush range but I hate the smell of that too. I'm not too sure what's going on there but the Hand Food smells lovely to me.

Overall I like the way this product works. It doesn't leave any greasy residue on my skin and leaves me feeling soft as a baby's bum. Would I rush out and repurchase it? Probably not because I'm fickle and want to try out other products. Plus, it really didn't smell nice to me. I'd rather reach for Etat Pur or Sanctuary if I'm honest.

Have you tried this scrub, or any other scrubs by Soap and Glory? How did you get on?

  1. Oh no! I actually really like the smell of this :) have you tried the Breakfast Scrub? Might be worth it as that is really nice too.

    1. It starts off ok but the longer you rub it in the more liquorice it turns. Nah I haven't tried that but I'll definitely check it out :) Thanks xxo

  2. Surprisingly I haven't used a s&g scrub, even though it's a brand that I've tried a lot from. To be honest exfoliating my body is a step I always end up neglecting, so I'm really interested in trying this out now. :)
