Clean & Clear Advantage Clear and Soothe Daily Scrub

It would be fair to consider me as quite a Clean & Clear fan. When I was struggling with bad skin in my teenage years, this brand was the only one that created a line of products that worked for me. Since then I have been extremely loyal and am always curious about new launches from the company, and ways to extend my skincare routine.

I do get a little worried that their products aren't always the best for my skin, considering they contain a high percentage of alcohol. However I just counteract that with pampering and nourishing products elsewhere to try and make sure that my skin doesn't get too stripped.

My Clean & Clear history started with their Blackhead Clearing Scrub. I used this day and night for years until my skin balanced out. At the beginning of this year I introduced their Cream Wash 4 times a week to prevent myself from over-exfoliating, which has worked a treat. However I still felt that as my skin was changing, I didn't need the harsh exfoliation of the Blackhead Scrub which is why I decided to test this product out. New to Clean & Clear, the Clear and Soothe Daily Scrub aims to gently exfoliate whilst removing dirt and excess oil. I was intrigued to know what kind of exfoliation this would give me and if it would make a good replacement for my Blackhead Scrub which I've used for 5+ years.

The first thing I noticed about this product was how incredible it smells. It reminded me a lot of an edible lipgloss I had as a child that was meant to taste like strawberry. Honestly, it didn't really taste that much of strawberry but it sure tasted good. This product smells like that lipgloss tasted - probably not that helpful to you though considering you don't know what gloss I'm on about. In general I would say that it has got quite a fresh and fruity smell. I would definitely recommend giving it a sniff if you see it on the shelf as you walk by.

The second thing I noticed was how small the beads were in comparison to the previous scrub I was using. These beads made the blackhead ones feel like sandpaper! The Clear and Soothe product gives a much more gentle exfoliation which I really enjoy. Bonus, as that was one of the main things I was looking for!

On the other hand, I do find this scrub marginally more drying than the other. It feels like there is a slight film left on the skin as you wash the product off - like it has stripped the skin too much of the oils. But once I patted my face dry and looked in the mirror, my skin looked radiant, felt smooth and although it was a little tight, the moisturiser I used afterwards sorted that problem straight away. This scrub hasn't made me break out either which obviously wins brownie points.

I'm definitely happier using this product compared to the Blackhead scrub I was using previously, but I will still be on the hunt for a wash that doesn't contain a high volume of alcohol. If you have any recommendations, please leave them in the comments below.
