Birchbox Review - Model Co Party Proof Matte Lipstick in Kitty

Last month's Birchbox was really lovely. It was one of those boxes where I was going to be able to use everything that I got which is always a bonus. If you're wondering why I didn't do a post/video on it like I usually do, you can head to this video here where I explain why. If you want to keep up to date with what arrives in my box just follow me on Instagram where I do a little video snap of what I got each month.

One of the products featured was this Model Co Party Proof Matte Lipstick in Kitty. I have received their eyeliner before which I quite liked but didn't really use that much as I'm not one for black pencil liners. However when I spotted this I knew it was going to be right up my street. My only question was about the 'matte' statement. I associate these sort of lipsticks with dry and chapped lips so I was hoping that this wouldn't be the case with this lipstick. Thankfully it wasn't and I've really been enjoying using this ever since I received it.

The packaging is quite cute. It's not very often that you see white tubes for lipstick which is why I love it so much. It's really different and is therefore easy to find in my makeup bag. It reminds me a little of the Mac limited edition Iced Delights collection in the sense that I Love Winter is the only other lipstick I have with packaging remotely like this.

The colour of this product is hard to explain. It's a little bit of a nude-pink-brown shade but turns more into a soft my-lips-but-better colour after a few minutes on the lips. It's seriously flattering and has become what I wear every single day now. You can see me wearing it in the video I uploaded yesterday :) Scroll down for yesterday's post.

As you can see, the lipstick does have a little bit of a sheen to it. I wouldn't say it was fully matte at all. It is extremely moisturising and non-drying which means that it's incredibly comfortable to wear but doesn't actually appear to have a velvety finish which I associate with matte lipsticks.

At first I thought it was because I applied lip balm prior to to the lipstick. However I have since worn it completely on it's own and it's still extremely luxurious in the fact that it's sleek, smooth and comfortable to wear. It really should be incredible for the price though!

The colour does last a while on your lips. Obviously you will need to reapply after eating a big meal but otherwise it has a reasonable staying power. As you would expect with any moisturising soft lipstick, it will wear off during the day but I find it no hassle to top this one up a little. You know that I can't stand products that you have to faff about with and are a hassle but this is really so pleasant to use. Plus it smells like sweets - like some sort of lemon sherbet to me which is amazing!

I should mention that one of the main ingredients in this lipstick in Mineral Oil. Having said that I have no problem with this lipstick. In fact I couldn't recommend it more. I definitely want to check out some more shades and might ask for some for Christmas. I just hope I didn't get a duff one and all the others are very stiff and drying. I'm sure they won't be.
