Birchbox Review - Dr Lipp Original Nipple Balm For Lips

I don't think I have ever used a product with such a random name! But random it's not.. This balm was actually used for nipples on ladies who were breastfeeding in hospital way before it was discovered as being a great lip balm. Thank god that one day a nurse decided to share her secret because it's absolutely amazing. It's still slightly weird using it knowing its core purpose but if you're asking does it do the job? Well yes, it does.

This 100% natural, rich, odourless, hypoallergenic and ultra effective lip balm, made out of Lanolin, is great for the approaching winter months. It's extremely thick - almost waxy in texture. I had a struggle trying to get the product out of the tube at first, but luckily a little goes a long way. I usually warm the balm up between my fingers and then apply to my lips. It's still quite a stiff, thick texture but it feels really lovely on and does and incredibly good job at smoothing out my pout. Lanolin has great healing properties and it's pureness means that it's not harmful at all. It gives the lips a little bit of a sheen which I really like - it almost reminds me of vaseline but thicker and it lasts longer.

As far as this product goes, I do like it. It's quite unglamourous. I usually like products that smell really lovely or have special packaging. However I expect this product to be similar to Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream - it doesn't appear anything incredible but it's multi purpose and one of the best at its job. You can use the Original Nipple balm on your dry skin, cuticles and feet along with the obvious purposes.

  1. Excellent review. I've never tried it but I always suspected that it was a more natural alternative to 8hr cream, and now I know. :)
