Maybelline Color Whispers

Today's review is another featuring gorgeous products that I got on my hols to America. I am completely baffled as to why these Maybelline Color Whispers haven't been bought over to the UK yet. They have been out for a long time in the USA so you would have thought Maybelline would have made the launch here. Maybe they are available in the UK but with a different name? I don't know. Let me know in the comments below.

Anyways, I've been testing them out over the last week or two and I wanted to give you the load down on what I thought. The shades I managed to pick up were Berry Ready (left) and Who Wore It Redder? (right). Obviously I had to pick up these colours as autumn was approaching at the time and I wanted to be very season appropriate. I also really love red lipsticks now so I couldn't help myself.

As far as I knew, these Whispers were meant to be the Maybelline version of Revlon's Lip Butters. I absolutely can't say enough good things about the lip butters themselves so you can imagine why I dived straight for these beauties in CVS.

I really love the simple and clean cut packaging. The huge bonus that it resembles what shade you've picked does not go unmissed. It's so much easier to find which one I want in my makeup bag when the packaging is like this, so thank you Maybelline.

I do kinda wish that the lipsticks were shaped a little differently though. Because they are so incredibly pigmented, the shape of them means that it's hard to get a perfect cupid's bow unless you use a brush. I generally try to use the edge of the product to line my lips but that can still be pretty challenging.

You really only need the smallest amount to get huge colour pay off with these. The first time I tested them out I decided to dab the product onto my lips for a more sheer effect. That turned out to be wishful thinking. There is absolutely nothing sheer about these lip products. The colour goes on strong and bold the first time it touches the lips and will not budge unless you're eating a big meal.

I expected the whispers to be a little bit more glossy and a little more moisturising than they were. They were almost like a lipstick stain in that you couldn't feel they were there, the colour was fantastic and lasted a really long time, but that's where the buck stops. I found myself reaching for a lip balm to put under/over the top for that extra moisture and shine. Once this was done, the whispers became my ideal lip product due to the fact that they needed so little touch ups and i'm a lazy girl when it comes to makeup maintenance during the day.

I much preferred Who Wore It Redder? over Berry Ready but I can't really explain why. It just seemed to wear a lot nicer than the other one. Perhaps this was because Berry Ready was a slightly bolder choice. Who knows. Although Who Wore It Redder? looks like quite a natural pink in the picture, I can assure you that it is still quite a colourful shade of pink/red. I was wearing it in my last Youtube video which is featured in the post below this one if you want to take a look.

Over all I do like these lipsticks. I would purchase some more but they would be in more subtle shades as the pigmentation is so high. Although they don't bleed, I would recommend wearing a lipliner for easier application of this lipstick. It will give you a much nicer edge. Keep some lip balm at the ready when you wear these and you'll be ready to go.

    1. I wouldn't actually say they were like lip butters because they weren't really moisturising. However I think they are meant to be like them. Haha sounds good to me hun :) xxo

  5. I love the look of the berry shade and think it looks lovely on you! I hope they bring these to the UK, though I'm sure they've been out in the US ages so perhaps they're not going to bother since the lip butter market is fairly saturated? Who knows! xo

    1. That's what I thought. It's been a long time now so surely they'd be here already. I really feel that these have a place though because they aren't really similar to lip butters and there aren't many products on the high street that give ridiculous pigmentation like these do! xxo
