Covergirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm in Jam Twist

When I spotted this in CVS I instantly threw one in my basket as it reminded me a lot of the Bourjois Color Boost Glossy Finish Lipsticks. I know that Bourjois are coming out with darker colours later this year but I just couldn't wait. This Covergirl shade looked absolutely perfect and it said balm so of course I had to have it.

Just like the Bourjois version, this too is a twist up chubby stick. I love that you don't have to sharpen it. It just makes life so much easier. I quite like the classy design of the packaging too. It reminds me a lot of winter which is exactly when I'll be wearing this shade so that fits in perfectly.

These apply really smoothly and feel incredibly moisturising on the lips. They aren't quite as glossy as the Bourjois formulation but they make up for that in balm qualities. I would say that it lasts 3-4 hours on the lips before they started to get a little dry and needed touching up. Having said that, the colour stays pretty well and will last a little bit longer.

The shade ended up being a lot more sheer than I expected. I thought it was really going to pack a punch but even though it didn't I still enjoy the subtle look as well.

From the lid I figured that this shade was going to be Oxblood, but it turned out to be a lot more pink-toned and resembled more of a raspberry shade. I would bare that in mind if you are going to pick any of these up yourself. The shade you think you're getting might not be what you actually end up with.

I do really enjoy these and given the chance I would definitely pick up some more. I know that Covergirl is quite similar to Max Factor here in the UK, so I might pop over to that stall next time I'm in Boots and see what I can find. Overall this is a great, effortless product to wear and perfect for a beginner who is just starting out with makeup. Though saying that, I would recommend them to anyone and everyone. They're reasonably priced so definitely head down to your nearest pharmacy and check them out.

  2. Ah, I see what you mean - would definitely have expected a darker colour! I found that a bit with the Revlon Lip Butters too, I think it's just a common thing with these more sheer, balmy ranges. Still looks lovely though :)
