Ren Invisible Pores Detox Mask

This is the first ever Ren product that I have tried. Can you believe that?! I am so late on the Ren-loving bandwagon that it is getting beyond the joke. But needless to say, I've jumped on and started my journey with this Invisible Pores Detox Mask* for combination to oily skin.

This mask aims to reduce the appearance of pores (obviously) and leave skin feeling smooth, toned and purified. Sounded like the perfect combination to me as I tend to have larger pores around my nose and cheeks. I suffer from congested skin so the purified part really appealed too!

I don't know what it is about the Ren packaging which makes me so excited. Maybe it's the injection of colour that makes it so interesting to look at. Who knows? It's still clean and simple which I like. Plus being able to see how much product you have left is always a massive bonus. I hate having to guesstimate how much product I have left by how heavy the bottle is. I always end up ordering more when it's too late and I've completely run out. Not fun.

All you have to do is pump out a bit of product and apply it evenly to clean, dry skin. You can then allowed it to dry before removing the mask by wetting your hands and rubbing your fingertips in circular motions over your face.

It is definitely advised to cover up the end of the nozzle with the cap provided so that your pump doesn't end up drying up and clogging.

This mask felt so moisturising to me which seems a bit funny to say considered that it's for oily/combo skin. But then again, even skin-types like mine still need their moisture to look nice. I thought that the mask was going to feel really stiff to apply because it contains clay. However this was simply not the case. It slid on effortlessly and felt really comfortable.

When the mask has started to dry, you get that tight feeling where you can't move your face without cracking the face mask. This is always the point where I want to laugh and because I can't my eyes start to stream with water. Typical.

Once you go to remove the product, it turns back into that smooth, soft consistency and you feel like you're moisturising your face again.

I definitely notice some immediate results from the mask. My pores do generally look less visible which I'm happy with. However by the next morning they look the same again and I don't really notice a difference. It does reduce the look of any blackheads you might have but I was hoping that it would get rid of them completely instead of masking them.

Over all, I doubt this will be my favourite Ren product. I'm excited to try some more and will probably head for the Glycolactic Mask next as everyone keeps raving about it. I would happily use this mask up but I don't think I would go back and purchase it simply because it didn't give me that wow feeling.

If you have tried this mask, please let me know in the comments below as I would love to hear how you got on with it. Plus if you love Ren, please let me know what you think I should be trying next :)

  2. I've been lusting after this for a while now. I may have to cave and purchase this month. I don't have massive problems with my pores, but anything to keep them that way gets a thumbs up from me! x

  4. I love REN so if you haven't I definitely recommend their Clarifying Clay Cleanser :) I would love to try this mask, it's a shame you wasn't 'wowed' by it though.

  5. Hmm, this is another mask I've had on my shopping list for goodness knows how long! I love Ren, but having tried a multitude of detox masks I was doubtful that I really needed to add any more to my collection...or that this would clear the dreaded nose pores forever (one day!).
If you fancy trying another Ren mask then I'd definitely recommend their Glycolactic radiance mask - I'm sure you've heard lots about it already but that one really is something special.
My favourite detox mask is the one by Elemental Herbology - again, it doesn't miraculously clear pores, but it's the best I've tried at bringing blemishes down and sending them on their way quickly. I sometimes leave it on (just the blemishy areas) overnight and I find that it does a good job.
