Estée Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara

The second item I have been trying out from my Estée Lauder Free Gift Bag is this gorgeous Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara. I've never tried an Estée Lauder mascara before so I was really excited to give this a go.

I found the gift packaging a lot more representative of the actual packaging with this mascara, compared to the lipstick I reviewed a few days ago. I like this packaging a lot more but still think that the full size product looks much nicer.

My initial thought about this product was how incredibly large the brush was. It has been a long time since I've owned Bad Gal by Benefit but I think I could argue that this wand rivals that one in terms of size. It's huge!

This actually wasn't an issue in the end. The tapered brush meant that it fitted snuggly into my inner corner and arguably gave me some of the best coverage in that corner than any other wand has achieved so far. Amazing.

In this picture the mascara looks a lot thicker than it did in real life. I found that it actually looked really natural on my lashes - almost like I wasn't wearing any product at all. I've found this to be the case a lot recently with mascara's I've been trying out. The trouble is I like my mascara to be reasonably bold. Having said that, I actually did really enjoy this product and first thoughts were of how fantastic it would be to take on holiday this year. It's travel-sized, looks quite natural on and gives me the two factors I care about most from a mascara - volume and length.

This mascara definitely performs on both platforms whilst still achieving a subtle look. However it's really simple to layer if that is your desired look - clumps are not an issue. It didn't smudge or flake at all during the day and held a reasonably good curl too. Generally my lashes stick straight unless I give them some light encouragement with my Shu Uemura Curlers and apply a strong hold mascara. I was actually rather surprised with how well the Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara worked. I'm not sure why this shocked me though. Estee Lauder has been a good brand so far so I have no real reason to doubt it.

I do like this product and I would buy it again, but I definitely feel that there are mascaras in the drugstore that do just as good of a job. This is much more expensive and therefore I would probably only buy this as a splurge or a treat on rare occasions.

Do you have a high-end mascara which your happy to fork out for? Let me know in the comments below.
