Lush Cupcake Face Mask

As you may know, I bought this face mask a few weeks back now, after hearing a lot about it on Youtube from Ingrid/Miss Glamorazzi. I have been testing it out for 3 weeks and I've been really enjoyed using it. I'm not really a Lush girl per say. I don't shop there very often. The only reason I'll really go in is if I've run out of my Mint Julips Lip Scrub, which is gorgeous. I tend to have very sensitive skin to very perfumed or bitty products and therefore never really ventured into Lush as I figured it was just bath bombs and glitter. However I've been increasingly intrigued by their skincare, shampoo and body lotions recently. After hearing so much about this mask, my mind was made up. I took the plunge and went straight to the shop to buy it and I wasn't left disappointed.

Cupcake is a fresh vegan face mask which you must keep in the fridge. It lasts for around 3 weeks which I was really surprised with. I don't know why but I had settled with the fact that it was probably only going to last a week - how wrong was I? Keeping the mask in the fridge means that it's extremely cooling when you apply it on the skin. I really enjoy that factor. I generally tend to apply it two to three times a week, in the evening just before I head in the shower. I leave it on for around 5-10 minutes and then rinse it off in the shower.

One thing that I must note is how much I can't stand the smell of this mask. It claims that it smells of peppermint, spearmint and sandalwood oils but I don't know so much about that. My nose definitely rejects this a little and it really did take me a while to get over.

Another thing that I wasn't sure about were the lumps in this mask. It has hard pieces of something in there and I'm not sure what (maybe cocoa bean?) but it gives me the heebie jeebies every time I find one. Maybe that's just me being odd.

I have spent almost two years blogging. Two years I have managed to not get the shot of me in a face mask. But the time has come to show my face in all it's glory. It's pretty grim right? Haha.

The mask tells you to apply a generous layer, which I do. But even after applying it two to three times a week, and completely covering my face, I still didn't use up all the product before the use by date. This was a little frustrating as I felt like I was wasting product. I would prefer to pay for less, or have it last longer to be honest.

It doesn't exactly go rock hard on your face. You can definitely feel it drying but it doesn't really make your face tight and stiff like a lot of face masks do. It's extremely easy to wash off and my immediate reaction after doing so was wow, my skin feels so soft! It really felt like a dream.

When I got out of the shower and looked in the mirror, my skin did look nice but there weren't any major improvements. I generally saw the real results the morning after. It had completely soothed any redness I had and I felt like I had a great base for my makeup.

I'm also pretty sure that this mask has prevented my skin from creating so many oils. I feel that my makeup looks better after applying this mask which is definitely not something I thought I'd find. The mask does claim to absorb excess oils but I generally take all claims with a pinch of salt until I've tried them.

In a nutshell, this product is amazing. I would definitely buy it again and would recommend it to anyone with oily skin like I do, regardless of whether you're a teenager or not. It really does make a difference.

  3. I love the sound of this mask :)
If it's one that needs to be stored in the fridge then I usually just keep on using it after the use-by-date and it's always fine!
