Birchbox Review - Doctor Duve Anti-Aging & Firming Eye Cream

I've been really interested in investigating new eye creams recently. I have a few naturally fine lines around my eyes like probably every human being does. However I thought it would be nice to add an anti-aging property into my skincare regime to prevent any further wrinkles from appearing. The fact of the matter is, I'm only 22 and therefore I probably won't see to much of a benefit from the anti-wrinkle properties yet. But I can tell you straight off the bat that I definitely did see a dramatic improvement in my skin texture from using this cream.

The Doctor Duve Anti-Aging and Firming Eye Cream is a thin consistency, which you should dab under your eyes with a ring finger until it is fully absorbed. I can tell you from personal experience that this can take an absolute age! I swear with my usual Simple Eye Cream it takes me seconds to pat it in and I'm on my way. But with this stuff, I can be there for a good minute or two!

Since I received this sample in my Birchbox, it came as a sachet which some of you will probably know I don't like at the best of times. I just find them a real pain when it comes to repeatedly going back for more product and it's all dried up where you've made the hole.. etc. Anyways, I thought I would be able to get away with it when it came to eye cream. How wrong was I? I ended up getting a couple of weeks worth of product out of this sachet and that meant reaching for it twice a day. It was almost impossible to get the right amount of product out. I either got too much or too little. When the full size product is £115, you'd expect that they can afford to give you samples in a pot rather than in these annoying little sachets! Rant over.

After using up the first packet, I went back to using my Simple Eye Cream and this is when I realised how much of a difference the Doctor Duve Cream had made. My under-eyes were so much smoother and more hydrated. I feel that this was probably due to the Hyaluronic Acid in the cream which helps to retain moisture in the skin. The Simple Eye Cream just could not compare to the Doctor Duve product whatsoever. Having said this, would I go and purchase some eye cream for £115? Probably not - no matter how good it was. I can't justify spending that amount of money on a product at the moment. Maybe as a huge treat when I'm earning millions, but not just yet. Haha.

Did you get this eye cream in your Birchbox or have you tried any other Doctor Duve products before? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. Ooft £115? That's like... 1/4 of a flight to New York! I wouldn't personally spend that much but if it's the Hyaluronic Acid in the cream you think is making the difference maybe try your normal eye cream with Hydraluron? :) <3

    1. That's the plan. I'm sure there must be one out there that's just as good and contains hyaluroninc acid. xxo
