Rimmel London Apocalips Lacquer in Celestial

I've finally jumped on the bandwagon. I've been wanting to try these for sooo long now, and Boots doing a 3 for 2 offer gave me the perfect opportunity to do so. I have absolutely no idea why I didn't pick up the red one which was actually the one I wanted. But having said this, I still think that this is a beautiful, wearable shade for spring time.

Apocalips is basically a lipstick in liquid form. It applies as more of a cream using a tip applicator. I've not really seen anything like this before. There have been stains, or simple opaque cream glosses but nothing that has a longer staying power which is not sticky or really wet and glossy looking.

The packaging is cute for the most part. I like that you can see the colour of the lacquer at the bottom of the tube. However I find the diamond shaped top to be a little bit tacky. I know that this is what really makes the packaging different, but something about it comes off a little cheap to me. Though this would never stop me buying it as the product speaks for itself.

What I found really strange about the applicator was the cave in the middle where all the product has collected. I suppose this is a clever idea as you manage to keep enough on your applicator without it being overloaded. I've never come across this before though. All of the tip applicators I know of have a slanted edge, unless they are the heart shaped ones like the YSL Glossy Stains.

This looked like a really pretty colour when I swatched it. It was almost a 'my lips but better' shade. Having said this, this is the exact reason why I prefer people to take pictures of them wearing the product. The colour often looks slightly different when applied to the lips because it mixes with your natural lip pigment. Seeing pictures of people wearing the colour also gives you a better idea of what it is going to look like on you, as no one can really imagine themselves wearing it from a swatch.

I think it looks a lot more candy pink on my lips than the deeper pink which is shown above. It is a pretty natural shade that would be wearable for girls with any skin tone and great for spring looks.

The colour is quite long lasting. I find that as the lacquer wears off, it leaves behind a colour stain which helps to carry you through to your next application. What I mean by this is that you don't have lips that are half one colour and half the other, leaving you looking like you've licked all the product off. The coverage is flawless for a longer period of time.

At £5.99 I think these are reasonably priced and will definitely be purchasing some more - especially the red. If you have any colour recommendations, please let me know in the comments below :)
