Smooch Cosmetics - Lips and Cheeks

Today I wanted to talk to you about the Smooch Cosmetics brand. I haven't heard a lot about this brand online but I can't say that I'm overly sure of why that is. Maybe it's because you can't pick up Smooch in your local Superdrug or Boots. Or maybe it's because there aren't enough people out there who are writing to tell people how much they are enjoying their lovely products. Either way, I am here to tell you guys today that Smooch is brilliant and definitely worth looking into.

I was contacted just before Valentines day by a PR company who introduced me to this cosmetics line. I was definitely curious about the products because they looked amazing online. Therefore I figured that I would ask to try some items and see what I thought. You may recognise a couple of these items from a Valentines Day FOTD tutorial I did whereby I used the blush and lipstick. This is the moment when I fell in love with Smooch and simply couldn't wait to share these products with you guys.

I am by no means just saying this because I got sent these products. I genuinely mean it when I say they are amazing. I hope that some of you might go and investigate this brand and find out for yourselves what I mean (Especially try the lipsticks! They're my favourite!).

So, the items I'm sharing with you today are Peachy which is the blush*, Crimson Fire which is that beautiful red lipstick* and finally Pucker Up which is the pink lip liner*.

The first thing I noticed about the products was the packaging. The blush in particular reminded me a lot of the Nars packaging as it has a rubberised texture to it and is a similar shape. The lipstick also has a rubberised finish which I like as it stands out from others in my makeup bag. However as you may be able to tell from the first picture, it's not the easiest of surfaces to keep clean. This would be the only downside, as I feel that the pink lace decoration is quite girly and cute.

Peachy (£8.50) is a blush that combines two colours. You can either wear them on their own, or swirl your brush in the pan to achieve a brand new shade. These tend to be a little bit on the powdery side which can get a little annoying. Having said this, I tend to just blow the excess away once I've finished with it and that prevents any buildup inside the pot.

As you can see, there is a darker peach along with a lighter shade. The darker blush looks rather orange in this swatch but I can assure you that it doesn't look like this once applied. It does have a slight shimmer to it which helps to give your cheeks a highlight once you've applied it. I really like this feature.

Because I have oily skin, I generally tend to stay away from glittery products in case they make me look like a disco ball or generally more oily. However this fine shimmer creates a very pretty glow that looks healthy rather than fake.

Unfortunately these swatches didn't turn out so well but I really wanted to give you a feel of how the blushes transfer. On the far left we have the two shades blended together. Then we have the lighter peach followed by the darker peach on the far right.

I think that this is going to look beautiful in summer. I can't wait for the snow to go away and for spring to start so that I can break out all the beautiful coral shades and enjoy using them to their full potential.

Next we have my favourite product from Smooch. Crimson Fire (£7.50) is a beautiful, vibrant red lipstick that helps you achieve a classic statement lip with virtually no effort.

This lipstick is so creamy and so moisturising! I just couldn't believe it when I tried it on for the first time. It glides on perfectly and gives pigmented, flawless coverage straight away. Because this lipstick is so soft, it does tend to transfer quite easily. However I find that this can be stopped by either using a lipstick lock product or by blotting after application.

One thing I would be weary of is the colour swatches online. I thought that this lipstick was going to be more of a deeper red than it is, so I would be careful when using the pictures online as a guide.

I took this picture from my Valentines Day post which you can find here if you are interested :)

Finally we have Pucker Up (£4.95). This pretty pink lip liner also comes with a lip brush on the other end. I don't tend to use these brushes as I find that they aren't that great of quality. Having said this, if you are on the go it's nice to be able to carry a little bit of your lip colour with you. Just top up your brush with your lipstick, pop on the lid and then it is with you for touch ups during the day. Unfortunately my lid keeps falling off which is a bit of a pain, but I don't tend to use the brush anyways.

The colour glides on very nicely but unfortunately I don't think this shade is for me. I don't tend to wear candy pinks very much and therefore when I put this lip liner on I didn't feel that it suited me that much. But this does not take away from the fact that its a nice quality product and would suit any number of girls who like to wear this shade on a regular basis.

The swatches of the lip liners aren't very good on their website either so i'd bare that in mind when when ordering your shade.

So there we have it! I hope that these reviews helped you - whether it was introducing you to the brand or just updating you on different shades which you might like to try.

Smooch have also released some new duo eye palettes this March so keep your eyes peeled for them if you are browsing their website. You can get 25% off any order over £15 at the moment as well which is an amazing deal!

Speak to you soon guys :)
