Lip Balms - From Best to Worst

Today was going to be a post on Nail Rock Nail Wraps, but as you can see there has been quite a change. I put three of the wraps on and got completely fed up with them. I have tried Nail Rock wraps before and they are far from my favourite. They are the wrong size, you have to use acetone to stick them down but they still don't lay flat and don't tend to last very long. I was hoping that I would feel a little differently this time as the new wraps were bought to me as a present from my boyfriend for Valentines day. Unfortunately they turned out to be the same and therefore I found them un-usable.

So I went in search of a product I could do a new post on and what better than to do a favourite lip balm post. I am a huge fan when it comes to lip balms. At the moment I have more than I care to share. I generally try not to buy new ones until I have at least used another product up, but sometimes I can't help myself. The only ones that are not featured in the above lineup are my Burt's Bees balms, my Sugar Fresh Rose Lip Treatment and a few different variations of the Vaseline Jelly. This is simply because I forgot to pick up my Burt's Bee's and Sugar Fresh ones and I felt that the other Vaselines were represented by the Pink Bubbly as they are all very similar.

I am going to go from left to right in order of what I like, to what I don't use as much. The order may come as a surprise to you but I will explain all my choices down below.

(1) Christian Dior - Creme De Rose - This may be the first surprise to all my readers. If you remember my review of this product then you will know I wasn't particularly fussed with this at first. But in all honesty my mind has been completely changed. The more I use this the creamier it gets and the more moisturising it feels. It gives my lips a gorgeous baby pink colour whilst creating a thick layer of moisture and overall leaving me feeling pampered.

(2) Blistex - Relief Cream - This comes in a very close second. I probably use this more than the Creme de Rose but it doesn't give me that pampered feeling, nor does it give me the same colour payoff. Having said this, it is probably more moisturising. I haven't found a product that keeps my lips flake free better than this - it's a winter saviour. When there's a harsh wind lashing at your face, a normal balm like Vaseline will only stop the wind from attacking your pout. Relief Cream actually protects and nourishes at the same time and that's why its such a holy grail lip product for me.

(3) Chapstick - Strawberry - This product tastes AMAZING. It's the only lip balm I know of that tastes great and doesn't make me feel like a little kid. The boyfriend loves it when I wear this. It nourishes my lips and leaves them feeling soft and supple. It's really cheap and overall it's a staple product that every lip balm lover should have.

(4) Nivea - Essential - I found out about this through my mum. It was her favourite balm for a while so I started to steal it and try it out when she wasn't looking. Turns out that this is amazing at giving you the feeling of a really thick moisturiser. It has absolutely no colour pay off but I believe that there are tinted ones on the market now.

(5) Elemis Fresh Skin - Loving Lips Quenching Lip Balm - If you want to get your hands on this product, I would suggest you go and pick up Cosmopolitan this month as they are giving it away as a free gift. I absolutely love this product and have for a while. I can't remember when I first was given this but I remember loving it a lot. This feels more like a gloss to me which is why it comes further down in my list of favourites. I don't like products that my hair will stick to. Having said this it is still a nice product. The downsides would be that there is no colour and your lips can feel a bit tacky when the balm wears off.

(6) Vaseline - Pink Bubbly - The reason this comes so low down in my list is because it simply doesn't moisturise my lips. I know that most girls swear by Vaseline and love it to death, but in honesty I have found better products and therefore find this brand a bit inferior. It still smells nice and gives a smooth feeling to my lips, but it wears off really quickly and doesn't really give me many benefits.

(7) Korres Lip Butter - Guava - I bought this because of AllThatGlitters on Youtube. She talked about using it and loving it. I always admire her lip colour in videos and wish that I could achieve a perfect pout like hers. Therefore when she said that this was one of her go to products I just had to have it. Unfortunately I find it a bit thin, sticky and generally hard to apply. I can never get enough out of the pot to make my lips feel really moisturised. It can be extremely messy to apply which makes putting it on more of a hindrance. On the plus, this smells great and the colour is nice if you can manage to create some build up.

(8) Rose and Apothecary - Rose Petal Salve - This comes last as I have only used it a hand full of times. It is a lovely product and it smells nice but it reminds me a lot of Vaseline. Therefore if I want a product like this I will generally reach for that rather than this salve. Sorry Rose and Apothecary!

And there we have it! Let me know about your favourite balms in the comments below and I will be sure to check them out :)

  1. Great reviews! Out of all of these I only have the Vaseline Pink Bubbly one, I agree with you when you say it doesn't moisturise very well. It's also a little more greasy than the other Vaselines i'm used to, unless there is something different with mine lol!

    1. Cheers hun. I've not found that but I don't tend to reach for it very often because I have so many other ones. I think my most used are my Relief Cream, Dior, Burt's Bees and and Chapstick :) xxo

  2. Have to agree with you about the Korres. It does nothing for me at all! My favourite lip balm is Eve Lom Kiss Mix. It's so expensive but so nice on the lips <3

    1. Thanks so much for the recommendation! Just checked it out and that is already on my wish list now :P I'm terrible when it comes to products like this. But lip balms are effortless easy products to wear that give you amazing benefits! Love them! xxo

  3. I have a lot of lip balms too, A LOT! haha! I'm not that keen on Vaseline, I don't find that it has many benefits either, I always get drawn to the idea of the nice flavours like creme brulee and pink champagne, but I don't buy them now because I don't find they do anything. Creme de Rose looks gorgeous! A lovely colour and you can see how creamy it is just in the pot!

  7. I love the Rose Petal Salve! Try it on your cuticles =) my favourites at the moment are the Soap and Glory ones, the peach one smells amazing! They're quite sticky but I use them before bed and in the morning I have super soft lips which is a big deal for me as mine are always chapped! Xx

  9. I love those Nivea balms! In high school we weren't allowed to wear makeup (private girl's school), so me and my friends would cheat and use the cherry flavour of nivea balm which left a pretty tint, on both lips and cheeks.

You need to try Lansinoh, for really dry times, it works a treat during winter. But not glamourous or fun to use at all. I really want the Dior one after reading this, sounds luxe.

  10. I absolutely hate vaseline, I think it's horrible and doesn't moisturise at all. I love the Elemis one though, I got it free with this months Cosmo and it's so hydrating

    1. It just provides more of a greasy layer to protect from bitter winds. It's not great at preventing chapping. Elemis is amazing. I know another one which I like thats very similar but I've lost it and forgotten its name which is so annoying! xxo
