NOTD - Topshop Nail Polish in Razzmatazz

Does this even need a description? Look how amazing this polish is..... I think I may be in love.

My friend bought this for me this weekend to make me feel better because I had the flu. She saw me pining after it in a picture and I can't thank her enough for the purchase.

The colours and sparkles are absolutely gorgeous and I have never seen anything that looks quite like it. This is with three coats but you could easily get away with two if you were in a rush.

Hope you guys are having a lovely Wednesday. If you have any Topshop polish recommendations then be sure to let me know in the comments below :)

Joliebox Review - Essential Care Organic Rose Moisturiser

I have been trying this moisturiser out for a few weeks now. Once it arrived in my Joliebox earlier this month I put it into my skincare routine straight away and it hasn't been removed since.

This organic moisturiser is perfect for all skin types. It's a thin, cream coloured lotion that absorbs like a dream. I prefer thin moisturisers as I have oily skin and don't tend to need the intense hydration that a thick cream would give. For oily skin types, moisturisers that have a high content of water are usually best. I think this is why this one works so well for me. It takes seconds to rub in and then I like to leave it for a couple of minutes to sink into the skin so I am left with it feeling soft and supple.

It smells rather strongly of Rose to start off with but this does mellow down. It is not so overpowering that you would get a headache but if you were to smell your skin the scent would definitely be there.

After it has absorbed I generally then go on to apply my primer and carry on with my makeup routine. However I have been finding that when I wear the primer over the top it doesn't seem to work as well. I tend to get expression marks showing around my mouth which I don't get without using the moisturiser. I am still trying to think of a way to figure out how to stop this because I really like the product.

This is the first moisturiser that I have found that doesn't make my skin more oily afterwards. It seems to   control the amount of oil that is produced which makes it very desirable in my eyes. It keeps my skin hydrated for the whole day without any trouble and is really simple and effortless.

Have you tried using this product? Let me know how you got on.

Yves Rocher Expert Firming Balm

This product is another branch off of the Yves Rocher brand that I have spoken about previously when reviewing the Repair Lotion.

Unfortunately I don't feel that this Expert Firming Balm* is as good, which was a little disappointing.

The first thing I noticed about this product was the packaging which I really loved. I don't know why but I find that there is something a bit more high-end about having moisturisers or balms in a tub. I prefer them because I can see how much I have used unlike squeezing a bottle until it makes that inevitable *puuufft* sound as only air comes out. I also got excited when I saw how nicely it was placed into the tub with the little peak in the middle. That must seem really sad but they are simple pleasures. The product came sealed with a silver foil which was great because I like things that are fresh and new.

Having said that, the balm almost seemed old. I don't know whether it was meant to but it had almost a thick dried layer over the top that I had to push my finger through to get to the balm which was rather odd. The consistency also wasn't what I was expecting. The only way I can describe it is that it looked a little bit like thick cottage cheese.

On the other hand it did smell lovely so I thought I would give it a try anyways. You are meant to use this product twice a day for a month to reap the rewards and this is where I don't think it was very well suited for me personally. I am a lazy moisturiser. I don't like to spend time rubbing creams all over my body so the fact that I had to now do it two times a day wasn't appealing.

Finally, I didn't really notice any firming of my skin. Granted I only used it for about 2 weeks and then got a little bit bored of it but there seemed to be no real difference for me. I am only 21 and therefore have quite firm skin anyways so perhaps this product is aimed at women slightly older than myself.

I still absolutely adore using the Repair Lotion on the other hand. It makes my skin feel silky and smooth and is by far my favourite lotion to use. If you would like to check this out then please click here.

Have any of you tried any products by Yves Rocher? Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Disco Nails - China Glaze and No7

I received this China Glaze polish in my Joliebox a couple of days ago. This is the first China Glaze polish that I have ever owned and I was almost disappointed that it wasn't a colour. On the other hand, having now seen the other colours that were on offer, I am glad that I received this and I'm surprised with how much I like it on my nails.

With chunky glitter polish it can get a bit difficult to get the pieces to stay on the nail. As soon as you swipe the brush down they tend to come off with it. Therefore I find that if you just place the brush on your nail and then take it off without swiping the nail. The pieces will then stick better. You can then spread them out and it creates a better look.

I really love this look. I was only experimenting with the polish at first and then ended up really loving it and wanting to share it. The No7 polish, though it looks vibrant in the pictures, is actually really subtle in real life which helps give the silver glitter an extra sparkle. I think it looks really pretty. Normally I would just paint the glitter on my ring finger because I feel that it sometimes can look a bit child-like but I don't think this polish gives off that look at all.

What do you think?

Let me know in the comments below and if you have any recommendations of China Glaze Polishes then please let me know :)

May Joliebox

My May Joliebox is here!!!!! I am so excited about this because it is by far the best beauty box that I have tried! Everything I receive in the box is always great quality and perfectly shaped to the type of person I am. This box is just the same and I can not wait to share it all with you! So let's get into it:

(1) Essential Care - Organic Rose Moisturiser - A light-textured facial moisturiser with the rehydrating benefits of organic rose, for all skin types.

My Opinion - I am still hunting for that perfect facial moisturiser. I haven't quite found it yet so I am excited to have another sample to try. This definitely smells rather strongly of rose which lingers on the skin for a while. I haven't tried this on my face but I did rub some into my hand and the smell is quite prominent. However the cream lotion is very thin and absorbed very quickly into the skin. These are all promising signs as I have oily skin so prefer to use a more watery moisturiser as I don't need the incredibly intense hydration. It leaves the skin feeling extremely soft so I am very excited about giving it a go.

(2) Talika - Lipocils Expert - An eyelash growth product with extracts of natural nettle to stimulate the growth of short and frail eyelashes.

My Opinion - I am a bit confused about how to use this product. On the box it shows that there would be some sort of mascara wand with a sponge on the end to apply this but when I open up the bottle it just has the sponge like a lip gloss would look. I will have to look into it further about how I am meant to apply this but I like the concept. I have short lashes and would love the Bambi eyelashes that some girls have. This product is meant to darken and curl your lashes up to 50% more than they already are and lengthen them by 36% so we shall see how it goes :)

(3) RMK - Makeup Base - This makeup base primes the surface of the skin, adds moisture with shea butter and provides the perfect fit for foundation.

My Opinion - This product smells a bit like suntan lotion. It is extremely thin and watery. It absorbs like a dream and leaves the skin feeling extremely soft. I have only tried this on my hand again so I am not sure about how well it holds my makeup but I am sure a review will follow shortly. I really like the packaging of the product so we are off to a good start so far.

(4) China Glaze - Professional Nail Lacquer - Give your nails a burst or flower power colour with this long lasting, chip-resistant and nail-hardening polish.

My Opinion -  My first ever China Glaze!!! I sort of wish that it was just a colour nail polish instead of a chunky glitter one but I am still extremely excited to try it out because I have heard so many great things about this brand. This is the only full size product this month. I love getting full size products because I feel that it is really great value for money when you spend £10-£13 a month on the beauty boxes. This glitter polish is called Techno. I shall be doing a NOTD shortly on my blog I'm sure.

Amazing box this month and i am really pleased with all of the items. I am a little bit gutted that there are only four products this month instead of the usual five. However I am happy that I got a full sized great quality polish and the other products are perfectly suited to me. I can't wait to try everything out properly.

Let me know what you thought of your box if you received one :)

Full size pictures of all products are below.

St Tropez Gradual Tan

We are in spring - believe it or not! Hopefully the rain will stop pouring soon and we will be able to reach for our summer clothes again. So I thought what better time to talk about my favourite self tan.

St Tropez is one of a kind in my eyes. They have a range of different products to suit the kind of tanning that works best for you, whether that be mousse or lotion. I find that so many tans on the high street can make you go streaky and orange which really isn't my desired look but there is one special quality about St Tropez that helps you know you'll be golden brown at the end. For example, the mousse comes out as a goldy-greeny-brown type of colour. This is the key sign to look out for to help make sure you look naturally sun kissed. In many other self tanners, you will get an orangey brown substance which sets you off straight away for David Dickinson look.

Anyways, going back to talking about my favourite product - I love St Tropez Gradual Tan Lotion. As you can see, this lotion is white, but once rubbed in it still gives you a beautiful glow to your skin. With many lotions and moisturisers that contain tan, it seems to take a while for the colour to build up. I get fed up of waiting for it to be honest. Having said that, you don't have that problem with this lotion. The colour, depending on what shade you pick up (mine is light to medium), will build for the four hours after you apply the lotion. You end up with a visible tan from the very first usage. If you want to go a little bit darker then just apply some more the next day, or perhaps buy a shade up.

You never ever get streaks from this lotion from my experience. It is an absolutely perfect option for novices who are worried about doing it wrong first time around. I would recommend that you moisturise the dry areas of your skin like your elbows, knees and ankles, and perhaps exfoliate before using this so you achieve the most even colour that you can. But I do find that this tan can be very forgiving.

Of course it does have that typical self-tan smell of biscuits. There is no way you can avoid that as far as I know, but if you are going to self tan, it comes with the territory.

This product can be a tad on the expensive side. However in the summer Boots often have an offer where you can pick up 3 for 2 or buy one get one free. I definitely recommend picking them up at this time as the product's use by date is a year later so you can always save them up.

I hope you enjoy St Tropez just as much as I have. But if you have any other recommendations for great tans please leave them in the comments below and I shall give them a go :)

Topshop Nail Art Pen in Nightrider (Black)

You may recognise this from my InStyle Bluebell post a couple of days ago. When writing that post I thought of a few extra comments and ideas I wanted to share to help you get the most out of your pen so I figured I would create a seperate post of it. Here is a full description of the item and how it worked best for me.

This pen comes in four different shades and is available for £6.50 from Topshop. When purchase your pen it will have a white nib. You need to shake and pump the pen to get the ink flowing through to the nib. To pump then pen just push down on the nib and you will see it retract. Don't worry if it takes a while for the ink to come through - it did with mine too.

What I really want to discuss with this product is how well it worked for me because I was expecting something slightly different. With the word 'pen' I expected it to work just like a marker would. However this was not the case as the ink in mine did not flow continuously. My friend bought one a day later and had the same problem so I thought it would be good to point out in case you are experiencing the same problem. I seem to have the problem where it will just stop releasing ink and it becomes difficult to get a clear and precise design on the nail when this happens. I tried pumping the ink through the pen on my nail but unfortunately this didn't work either. The method that I found was best for me was drawing until it ran out and then pumping it on a piece of paper before carrying on. Although this method was still challenging, it worked.

Another pointer for using this pen is to make sure that your nails are completely dry before attempting to draw on them. The nib is very hard and if you have trouble with the ink coming out, you might find you end up dragging the nail polish instead if it is not completely dry.

One final tip is to always remember to seal your design with a top coat otherwise it will wash or scratch off. The liquid is not as long lasting as a nail polish and will be removed very quickly if it is not painted over.

These three steps will help you get the best out of your pen and make the design work a little easier. I am excited to try out some other, more adventurous designs now :) The only problem is I have a lot of trouble steadying my left hand when drawing on my right hand. It definitely takes some skill!

If you have used any other pens or have another method to help with nail design, please comment below :)

L'Oreal Paris Mega Volume Collagene 24 Hour Mascara

I don't know why I always get worried that the next L'oreal mascara to be released won't be as good as the previous. It seems that L'oreal Paris just never disappoint! Every mascara is absolutely amazing and I would recommend everyone and anyone to pick up one from the range if you are in the market for a new mascara.

The Mega Volume Collagene 24 Hour Mascara has very similar packaging to that of Volume Million Lashes. Having said this, the wand is completely different. Volume Million Lashes has a long plastic brush with short plastic spikes whereas this collagene mascara has a classic brush but is extremely large. It reminds me somewhat of the big wand that comes with the Bad Gal mascara by Benefit. You would think that since it has such a big brush it would be really difficult to get the bottom lashes, but it's not. I don't know how or why this works but I have absolutely no problem manipulating the wand so that there are no smudges left below the eye.

I tend to find that the first couple of times I used this it seemed a bit thin. I like my lashes to be thick and bold but this seemed a bit weak. However you really must give it time because after a couple of uses it starts to coat the lashes a lot better. You can definitely see the volume straight away. My lashes seem fuller and longer which is great.

I really enjoy this mascara and think it would work well as an every day use, or even layered to create a more dramatic nighttime look.

What is your favourite brand for mascara? Let me know in the comments below.

InStyle Nails Inc Polish in Bluebell with Bow Ties

I love this nail polish! It reminds me of Celestial by Topshop but I think this polish slightly tops that one - plus it's so opaque. After two coats it looks flawless and really cute.

I don't normally like Nails Inc polishes but I must of had a bad experience in the past because this product is amazing. I decided to try out my new nail art pen from Topshop as well today, and created some cute bow ties that seem to be on trend at the moment. I will probably do a more in depth review on that product later this week. I sealed in the design with my beloved Seche Vite which is already half empty. I don't have a bad word to say about that top coat.

Overall I just find this shade really adorable. It goes rather well with my wardrobe which is getting progressively more monochrome. It creates a nice pop of colour without being too stand out.

I have also filed my nails shorter than I normally do. I think I am enjoying this look as its much more 'kept' and clean.

Have you tried any of the polishes with the Instyle Magazine this month? Or have any other recommendations as to other Nails Inc shades I should try out? Let me know in the comments below.

Barry M Lip Paint in 101

A week or so ago I did a post on a very nude lipstick by Gosh. Unfortunately that one washed me out a bit to much, and I think I have had the same problem again.

The Barry M Lip Paint looks so lovely in the tube. It is that perfect milky, nude pinky-peach colour that I thought would look great on me. As it so happens, this lipstick is even lighter than my skin tone. It appears almost white on my lips which is not something I was expecting at all.

I do like the packaging. I think that it is really smart and chic. It's simple which is actually rather nice but the product itself is a bit to drying for me. I wore lip balm underneath this lipstick but as soon as I stepped outside and the fresh air touched my lips they seemed to feel chapped and dry again. I don't think that the moisturising properties are that great at all.

This would perhaps work well if you were in performing arts. It would work great to create a plain colourless base for you to then work from and create a look with paints. However for an everyday classic nude that I was looking for, it's not working out.

Have you tried any Barry M Lip Paints? Let me know how you got on.

Haul - Zara, Topshop, Urban Decay and More!

I have been doing a little bit of shopping over the last fortnight so I thought I would share with you what I bought :)

I have been looking for a really nice black blazer longer than I care to remember. I am so picky when it comes to what I want. I would rather hold out for the right one than buy something I'm not fussed with and won't wear. Finally I came across this blazer in Zara today. I have eyed it up before but never bought it because of the price tag. It is £49.99 which I guess is OK for a blazer, but I am a student after all! So my parents treated me to this today to congratulate me on completing my 10 hour Law exam yesterday.

You may recognise this next purchase as it has appeared in my wish list a few times and I actually have the dark grey version of it already. I absolutely adore the one I already have and wear it all the time, so I figured I would get this one too since it was only £22 and I get student discount in Topshop.

This was a very naughty buy! I actually only purchased this because I thought Topshop were having a 20% off day. I only found out when I got to the till that they weren't but by then it was too late. I had already tried them on in the changing rooms and fell deeply in love. I have wanted a pair of shorts with studs on for a while. Originally I was looking for the square type, but these are pointy studs. I still love them though. Who doesn't have a space in their wardrobe for some Topshop Denim Hot pants. Even if they were £35....

Here we have a repurchase for me. This has to be my third bottle and since I love it so dearly I decided to buy the XL version this time.  If you don't already know, the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray is something which you can spritz on your face after applying your makeup and it will keep it in place all day long. It is a total lifesaver for me as I have oily skin and my makeup can sometimes shift during the day - not when I wear this though! It was £23 from BeautyBay.com. The smaller bottle is normally around the £19 mark.

This is kind of another repurchase for me. I first received this in my Joliebox a couple of months ago as a 100ml sample size. I use it to take my makeup off every night and really enjoy it so I splurged on the big bottle for  £17.80 from Amazon. If you want to know more about this product then read my review here.

Here is another long-lusted-after item. I am really excited to try this out and start doing some funky designs on my nails. Hopefully I can have a few tutorials on my blog using this once I figure out if I can keep my hand steady enough. At £6.50 it was a bit pricey but hopefully it will be worth it.

Hello mascara! If you have been following my blog for a while then you will know what a huge fan I am of mascara. When I saw this advertised in my magazine I just knew that I had to try it out. I have already tested the Volume Million Lashes which I believe this is a branch off of. I absolutely adored that so hopefully I will love this just as much. A review shall come shortly I'm sure. £9.99.

I won't talk too much about this product simply because I don't know much about it. I received it as a sample along with my Taaj makeup remover above. I believe that it is some kind of cleansing lotion but I shall investigate more into it. I'm sure that I will be reviewing it at some point to let you know how I got on, but here is a sneak peek anyways :)

Finally we have THE TURTLE CHARRRRM! Ok, this may seem odd but I have wanted this charm ever since Christmas last year. My friend and I have a running joke about the statement 'awkward turtle' and therefore decided that we would both treat ourselves to this charm when we completed our dissertation. So here it is and I love him. I think he is soooo cute!

Have you bought anything nice recently? Let me know in the comments below and I shall check it out!
