February Jolie Box (Former Boudoir Prive Box)

Welcome to the first ever British Jolie Box. Lets see what's inside :)

Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain in Forever Pink - An all-natural, multi-purpose stain that adjusts its colour to your mood and temperature.
First Impressions - This smells better than I ever knew possible for a beauty product. Gosh, if I could wear this as a perfume I probably would... OK maybe not that far. But it smell amazing! And the product itself isn't to bad either. I'm not sure about the whole mood changing colour and everything but when i swatched it on my arm it seemed to be quite a sheer pink balm that felt really moisturising. The more I blended it into my arm, the more colour pay-off I got. I think this is a really interesting product and I am a sucker for lip balms so I'll be giving this a try. The sample is a bit small though =/

Lavera Basis Sensitive Organic Hand Cream - An organic hand cream with Shea butter and almond extracts.
First Impressions - I haven't tried the hand cream but I am not that fond of the smell. However I don't like almonds so this would probably explain things a lot. I shall review it in more depth once I have given it the once over.

Macadamia Deep Repiar Masque - This ultra-conditioning hair masque will rebuild damaged hair for improved shine and elasticity.
First Impressions - EEEEEE so happy! I have wanted to try something by Macadamia for so long but just never got around to it. Now I have my own packet of full sized product. I can't wait to give this a go so watch this space.

Kimia Rejuvenating Facial System - This facial oil and hydra-activator will nourish and heal the skin.
First Impressions - I have oily skin, so I don't think I will be using this product. I am sure that it would work fine, but I have a personal thing about not adding more oil to my skin than is already produced. Look out for this in my give away that is coming up soon though! It seems like a really interesting and good quality product so I would love to hear what you guys think of it.

Taaj Himalaya Micellar Water - An antioxidant and tonic make-up remover that will revitalise and purify the skin.
First Impressions - This doesn't smell great when you smell it from the bottle, but when you get the water on to a cotton pad and start to smooth it over your face it actually smells quite pleasant. It almost feels soapy when its soaked into the cotton pad and removes you make up pretty quickly. I shall do a more in depth review when I have had a chance to try it for a longer period of time.

A really good box in my opinion. Probably my favourite beauty box of all the ones I have received so far! Happy Girl. Loving the new bag also. A great extra for me to store my beauty products in! :)

For enlarged pictures of all products, look no further. Everything is down below.

Blog Swap with Ashllyd

My Blog Swap parcel from Ashllyd is here!
Ashllyd and I decided to do a blog swop in October last year and it has been a lot of planning to get to this stage but we are finally here! I sent my box to her in December. If you would like to see what my box looked like then click here.

And here is the box that Ashllyd created for me. I think the box is really really cute. Bows are always a plus when it comes to me. When I opened it up I noticed a note from but I find personal hand written notes to be private so I haven't included this in the blog swop pictures. However, on this note it explained that she did buy me a fifth product but I did a review on it before she got the chance to send it to me, so she has offered me something else which I shall explain later. For now, lets get into what she got me:

Revlon Lipstick in shade 415 Pink in the Afternoon. I really love this lipstick. I haven't tried it on yet but I swatched it straight away and it kind of reminds me a little bit of the I Love Winter lipstick from MAC that I got for my birthday. I think that this one is a little bit more pigmented but I am still excited about wearing it and I am sure I will be blogging about this very soon!

Rimmel London Blush and Highlighter 21 Summer Feeling. These are really pretty colours. I swatched this again straight away and it was quite a muted colour which I didn't expect. I also realised that the powder was really soft and had a lovely texture. I am sure I will have fun giving this a go!

Rimmel London Lip Gloss 61 Pink Taffy. I am not really a lipgloss girl to be honest. I don't like my hair getting stuck on my lips and the general feeling of them, but I did swatch this, and the colour seems really nice. It has a slight shimmer and seems quite translucent which was unexpected after seeing the packaging. I shall certainly give this a go on a night out and see how it wears.

Essie Nail Polish in 461 Pink Ribbon. This is what immediately caught my eye. I love Essie nail polishes and this colour is right up my street. I have quite a collection of nude pinks now but I love adding to the collection. This colour looks like it will be stunning for spring and I can't explain how excited I am about getting it on my nails. I just wish I hadn't painted them with a different colour just last night! haha.

And finally, as I mentioned, she bought me a fifth product but I ended up already having it. Therefore, she has kindly said that I can give away a chance to get your blog redesigned by her to include in my next giveaway. Fancy giving your blog a spring clean? Well keep tuned because my giveaway will be coming up really soon and will include a few extra makeup items I have been planning for you :)

Thanks again to Ashllyd for this box. It was lovely and I am really happy with everything I recieved :)

Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation

Welcome to Rimmel London's new edition to the family. Wake Me Up is a liquid foundation that claims to reawaken skin, reduce signs of premature ageing, and includes SPF 15 for protection from the sun.

I have never been a fan for drugstore liquid foundations and stopped using them quite a few years ago now. However, I received about 4 samples of this foundation in my magazines this month and figured that something was telling me I just had to try it.

As usual, the sample wasn't my shade. I am about as white as white can be, and the sample was in Soft Beige - this made me look a bit like David Dickinson (as you can see from the top picture of me wearing the foundation, it isn't quite tangoed but you can tell it's there). I didn't mind that it wasn't my shade though, because at least I could give it a go and see how the formulation of the product works with my skin and how it wears throughout the day. I just wish that I had told my housemates this. I am sure they now all think that I can't do my makeup. Oops.

The first thing I noticed is that it has a really pleasant smell. It reminds me of something fruity and is the first foundation I have come across that smelt like this. Unfortunately, this was the only thing I ended up liking about the product.

I have Oily/Combination skin, and this was not keeping the shine away at all. I immediately looked like a disco ball and it reminded me why I switched to my mac powder foundation. I did set this foundation with powder, and blotting did help, but not enough to make me feel comfortable. I couldn't really pass it off as dewy. Plus the shine just enhanced my pores.

Don't get me wrong, I love Rimmel as a brand. I am the single biggest fan of their nail polishes, but this liquid foundation just isn't for me. It doesn't seem very compatible with my skin type at all. I often find this the case with liquid foundations, and this is just my personal experience. I know of people that really like this product, so I would say try a sample before you buy to see what you think. If you want me to send you one of my samples then feel free to comment below. I have two or three left.

Lush Mint Julips Lip Scrub

Welcome to your lips' new best friend. Mint Julips has been a favourite of mine ever since my first year of university, when I was away in Paris and my friend introduced me to the world of lip scrubs. Ever since then, this little baby and I haven't been separated. This is actually a repurchase for me as I ran out of it a little while ago and realised how I couldn't live without it.

If you are unfamiliar with lip scrubs, listen close. This lip scrub made out of sugar and different types of oils. Everything in the product is edible which makes the experience even more enjoyable because you get to lick your lips after using the product and they'll taste great, as well as being super soft.

All you have to do is dip your finger into the pot to get some sugary goodness - you really don't need a lot, a little goes a long way. Then, rub it onto your dry lips. After you have scrubbed away, you can either wipe your lips with a tissue or lick it all off. The flavour of mine is Mint Chocolate. Personally I think this is the best flavour they sell. However, they do sell two other flavours including a pink bubblegum one.

After you have got rid of the scrub, just add a little bit of your favourite lip balm and away you go! Simples!

The product lasts forever and it's only around £5 to buy. It does have a used by date which you will find on the bottom of the tub with a sticker of who made it. However, it lasts for around a year so you should be good to go.

NOTD - Rimmel London Lycra Pro in 420 Aqua Cool

I have decided that its spring. The sun is shining, and although I haven't been outside yet, I've decided that it's warm too :)
So, in theme with my new spring thinking, I've whacked out the pastels this morning and painted my nails with Rimmel London's Aqua Cool - a gorgeous dusty pastel blue. I have used three coats but you could have easily got away with two because it's so opaque. The wide brush makes it a doddle to paint quickly and precisely. I just love Rimmel nail polishes. I've said it time and time again - it never gets old.
What is your favourite colour for this spring?

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Kate Moss Lipstick in 01

I love it! Love it, love it, love it!

I have only recently been experimenting with red lipsticks, as I am more of a natural and nude girl myself. However, I am having tonnes of fun delving into the unknown and trying out some new things.
I recently did a post on a lip tint and a lip pencil that I liked which created a strong and powerful red lip, but I think it might be time to say step aside to those products because there is a new girl in town!

Rimmel London released a new selection of Lipsticks designed by Kate Moss. All of the ones in the collection have a little signature by Kate on the lipstick tube. There is a variety of reds and pinks in the collection, however I decided to pick the most classic, hard to pull off colour. Because, obviously I would *Rolls eyes*

The product actually smells like sweets. I kid you not, the lipstick smells like a strawberry chewy sweet I had as a kid that I can't put my finger on (If you have it and know what i'm on about please comment below). This however, is no lipstick to be messed about with. The intense colour is the most perfect classic blood red. It slips on like a dream, which can be rather annoying if you're not so good at colouring in the lines. If you do make any mistakes though, just grab a red lipliner and do some patchwork :)

It does feel slightly drying I will admit. Although it doesn't seem to actually cause my lips to dry out literally, it just gives the feeling, although this doesn't bother me too much as its not uncomfortable. You can always wack some vaseline on over the top. It does have a slight sheen on its own but the more you blot, the more matte the colour gets.

To test out how much it would fade, I wore this lipstick whilst I was eating and drinking and I would say you wouldn't tend to go longer than the 4 hours without doing some touch ups.

Overall, personally, I love it! I don't mind having to reapply it so much. And it is no where near as drying as other lipsticks that I have tried. It is excellently pigmented and it doesn't break the bank. What's not to love?

L'oreal Paris False Lash Telescopic Mascara

I knew it was going to happen. It was inevitable. L'oreal is my favourite brand of mascara and Telescopic was my favourite product for a long while so I believe I can justify this purchase. I know I don't need any more mascara, but this product was made for me! It was calling out my name. Every single time I walked past it in Boots it winked at me and asked if I wanted to take it home...
OK. So it didn't do the last part, but Telescopic was a staple mascara for me for a long while and I was curious to try out the new edition to the family. It is clear to see that I wasn't disappointed.
Telescopic False Lash comes in a shiny silver tube, a lot like the shape of the original. The brush is very similar to the old one and is one of the reason that I fell in love with it in the first place. Its thin and long, so it's easy to get into the inner and outer corners of the eyes, and it acts like a comb. It separates each lash with precision and then coats it individually with the perfect amount of product. It's also easy to coat the bottom lashes because the brush picks the lashes up with minimal effort, unlike big brushes that you end up having to wiggle about and make a right old mess.
The consistency is amazing. I get so much length from it, it is unreal. I also get a bit of thickening as well so it is a win win all round. It's clean and defined, and if you want some more drama you can just add another coat or two and it WILL NOT disappoint. Ever.
I love this product, just like I knew I would. Thanks L'oreal - you Queen of Mascaras you!

Modern French Manicure

I love having fresh clean nails. It's nice to have a bit of colour every once in a while but in my opinion nothing can beat a french manicure. So I decided on the spur of the moment to give myself one - but give my nails a twist.
When I reviewed Essie's Mademoiselle, I made a point of noting that it would be a great colour to do a french manicure with. It is a bit of a pain because it's thin so it takes 3 to 4 coats to start building up the colour. However this reduces drying time dramatically.
After I painted my nails, I then put a layer of Rimmel's Matte Top Coat over the top and it looked absolutely gorgeous. I well and truly love the look. The pink was the perfect nude for my skin tone and I could have easily stopped at this without putting the tips on because I loved it so much. However, I did decide to put on some white tips just to see how it would look and it turned out really well. I just used Barry M's White Nail Paint, using the brush to coat the ends of my nails very carefully. I loved that the white was glossy but the nails were matte, natural and pretty flawless. I would definitely start doing matte french manicures more often now. I think it'll look gorgeous and clean this spring/summer!

NOTD - Barry M in 304 Mint Green

Barry M is back on the blog again due to this Mint Green shade. Another borrowed off of a friend, who I secretly think is trying to turn me pro-Barry again.
Anyways, I actually really like the shade of this. It doesn't come out its true colour in the pictures. It is definitely more of a green on the nails but in this picture it looks a little bit like the Tiffany colour.
I think it would look really nice in summer with a tan. It might be slightly to harsh with my skin tone for me to get away with it at the moment but its possibly one to look out for me wearing in upcoming summer OOTD's :)
It did take 4 coats which I found quite annoying but one advantage of the paint being so thin is that it dries fast - with every cloud there's a silver lining.
Keep your eyes peeled. There may be more Barry M Nail Paint's coming up very soon.

HELP! I want everything!

Are you a huge MAC lover? Every single time the new collection comes out, do you get just a little bit more excited about what the limited edition shades might be? What the packaging might look like? Sounds like you're just like me.
I have a huge obsession with MAC products. I have full confidence that they are going to be products that I like. I understand the formulation of the makeup, so I feel like I know what I'm getting. There is always something new coming out and I really do like the design of the packaging. Plus, with 'Back to MAC' as an extra incentive, you can't go wrong.
This new collection is called the MAC Naturally Spring Collection. It is combined of a lot of mineralize products, along with our well-loved lipsticks and lip glasses, and a few tools thrown in there for good measure. It is sure to say that this collection was made for me! There isn't one thing in this collection that I wouldn't want for myself. They are easy, natural, pretty colours to wear, and I'm sure that before to long I will have some of these products in my collection. Unfortunately a lot of the colours have already SOLD OUT online, but with a little luck there may still be some of the shades in store.
A few of the ones I am personally looking out for are Perfect Day (first left) and Beach Sand Lipstick (second left), Subtle Breeze Blush (second from right) , and the 286 Tapered Blending Brush (smaller of the two brushes).
I am a bit confused as to why this collection wasn't brought out before Valentines day, but I suppose that they chose to combine a list of their best reds and pinks together for that event. Shame really, because this would have been an ideal gift for me :P
What do you want out of this collection, if any? And what was your favourite past MAC collection?

(1) This is what you will need to start off with..

A Cotton Pad
A Nail File
Scissors
Nail Varnish Remover (With Acetone)
Nail Wraps

(2) Next, you need to pour some nail varnish remover on the cotton pad and wipe it over your nail.

(3) Then find a nail wrap that best fits the shape of your nail. Cut it down to the right size if you need to. Lay it in the middle of your nail, wiping down the centre first and then out to the edges to avoid air bubbles.

(4) Use the scissors to cut the end of the nail wrap down to the edge of your nail.

(5) File the end of your nails so that the wrap finishes flush with the end of your nail. Make sure you do this by filing downwards or you will ruin the sticker.

(6) Repeat with all your nails and you will end up with something looking like this. They are so pretty... and it's so simple! :)
