August JolieBox!!

My August JolieBox arrived yesterday, quite late in the evening and I was really suprised to see it. I only got my dispatch email earlier that morning so I was thrilled to have received it already. As usual I ripped open the box in excitement and yet again JolieBox did not disappoint. This really does have to be my favourite monthly subscription beauty box to date as I never get something that I wouldn't like to try - it never feels like i've wasted my money. I love it!

For August JolieBox decided to create special edition summer boxes. There were 5 different varieties this month and I'm definitely pleased with mine. So let's check out what I got!...

(1) Dr Bronner's - Pure-Castile Soap 'pillows' - These magic all-in-one soaps loved by the A-list cleans and revives from head to toe.

My Opinion - I am a little confused as to what this is. Obviously I know it's a soap and I am presuming it's a liquid. But I don't know if it mimics a shower gel or if you can use it as shampoo as well? I have tried to do some research online but the Dr Bronner's website itself was of no help. I think I will try these out just as body washes in the shower and see how I go. Other than that I can not mention anything else as I have no idea what they smell like because I haven't opened one yet. They do look very intriguing so I am looking forward to trying them out. Review coming soon.

(2) Phil Smith Be Gorgeous - Dry Clean Revitalising Dry Shampoo - This dry shampoo blitzes oily roots and leaves hair feeling fresh and clean.

My Opinion - I've seen this brand in Boots and Sainsbury's quite a bit so I feel familiar with it even thought I have never tried any Phil Smith products before. I usually use my Batiste Coloured Dry Shampoo so it will be interesting to see how this compares. It would have to be really good to make me want to go back to using a white dry shampoo. I have brunette hair and it can sometimes be difficult to massage it in enough so I don't end up looking grey!

(3) So Susan Cosmetics - Lip Cushion - A sheer gloss to tint and moisturise chapped lips.

My Opinion - I love lip balms which is what I would call this. It's isn't really a lip gloss per say. It smells quite nice - like strawberry - but it does seem to have a plasticy background to it. There is also glitter in it which I am unsure about as it makes me feel like I am 6 again. The consistency is quite thin but so far it is doing a great job of keeping my lips hydrated. The product isn't tested on animals and has an integrity commitment whereby it doesn't contain harmful chemicals  so I am intrigued to find out more. One thing I would say is that the box is a little unnecessary as the balm is so small.

(4) So Susan Cosmetics - Wide Awake Face Palette - A palette of skin enhancing colour tools to give you a summer glow

My Opinion - This is what excited me the most... until I smashed it :( Yes my heart dropped, so this goes out as a warning to anyone else who received the palette.. One drop and you can say bye bye to the eyebrow powders! I honestly don't know how I will use the palette now without completely getting rid of the powder as they have shattered completely and keep falling out. I didn't even drop it from a great height! Anyways, the palette includes a cream highlighter, illuminator, eyebrow powders, tweezers and a brush. Overall I like this, but I will have to investigate into how good it is by using it further.

(5) JolieBox - Leather Hair Styling Lace - A leather lace to create endless updo's.

My Opinion - This is intriguing. I honestly don't have a clue how to use it but JolieBox mentioned in their note that they will be creating some YouTube videos to teach you how to use it which will be good. So far it's just a leather lace... haha!

Overall, I am happy with what I have received. There is nothing that I wouldn't use and that's the main thing for me. It's nice to discover some new brands and hopefully grow to love them.

I'm sure I've read somewhere those soaps can be used for washing your make up brushes? I'm not 100% sure though, so definitely research before you take my word for it! x

    1. My journey with beauty boxes hasn't been hiccup free. But at the end of the day I personally feel that it's worth it. Pro's outweigh the con's. :) xxo

  7. I just used them as hand washes to try them out but the peppermint and citrus organge soaps smell amazing, i'm sure they'd make a really nice scented shower gel if they were in a bigger container! Loved reading what you had to say! x
