St Tropez Gradual Tan Firming Plus

I am going on holiday next week. This has knocked me into the realisation that I am going to be the whitest person on the beach!  I have just missed the 3 for 2 on all tanning products at Boots which I am completely gutted about but, as they say, you snooze you loose.

So when I was in Boots with my parents at the weekend I thought I would check out the tanning and perhaps splurge on something since it is an emergency after all. That is when I stumbled across this range of tanning product. This new lotion from St Tropez claims to tan, tone, firm and moisturise all in one step. Well who doesn't want all of the above when they are about to go on holiday?! I chucked it in my basket straight away.

It came in a cardboard box so I didn't realise til I got home that the actual tube is smaller than the standard gradual tan lotion that they sell. There is 50ml less and it is a few pounds more expensive but I suppose since it does the few extra steps it's ok as long as it works.

The lotion is a yellow-y colour this time unlike the white lotion you get from the usual lotion I have done a review on before. It comes with 'Aromaguard' technology which means that it eliminates the smell of fake tan by up to 70%. This definitely works as when you apply it as it smells more like suntan lotion or other perfumes. It is only when it has sunk into the skin that you can starts to smell the tan slightly. If you wear clothes straight after tanning they will probably smell of it which is usual but overall it is a lot less noticeable than with the normal products.

I would say that the colour payoff is a lot similar to the light to medium lotion. Don't expect to get really dark really quickly because unfortunately that doesn't happen. However it builds quite quickly and that I do appreciate.

I haven't been using it long enough to notice anything about the toning and firming but once I have a better idea on this point I will do an update on this post or on twitter about it.

Overall it is quite expensive at around £15.. most St Tropez or good fake tan is quite pricey though. Personally I think it is worth it and would definitely repurchase it. I am enjoying using it so far and since it makes my skin so soft and smooth and combines moisturising and tanning in one, its' a winner in my eyes.

  5. I have the standard gradual tan of this to try. I'm a bit nervous as I've never used fake tan before but your review has put me at ease a bit. I'm looking forward to trying it now x

    1. Not be nervous! It's the easiest self tan to use. And the colours not to overpowering with the first use so you dont have to worry about evenness. If you are going to do your arms be careful of your wrists though because it can lay uneven there if you don't massage it in well. xxo
