My Brush Collection

I thought since I have been blogging for nearly a year now it would be a great time to talk about all the brushes I own and what I use them for. Underneath I explain every brush I have and how it works for me with the name and link so that you can purchase one if you like them :)

Mac 187 + Mac 187se

I use these two as my powder foundation brushes. I purchased my 187 when I started using Mac Studio Fix Powder Plus foundation and found that they work very well together. Coincidentally they were selling limited edition packs at Christmas that included this brush so naturally I asked my parents for this one because I use the brush so much. I tend to use the smaller one if I'm washing the big one or if I'm going on holiday.

Sigma F80

This brush I purchased to use my Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid Makeup with. I had been pining after it for a while and knew it was well known for working well with liquid foundation. I had stayed away from liquid for a while because my skin was so much better just using powder. However I seem to have found a liquid that works well with my skin so I like to alternate my foundations depending on the occasion now. The brush is so dense and soft. It doesn't shed and has to be my favourite face brush other than the 187.

Mac 130se

This brush is another one I got in my pack at Christmas as you can tell. I tend to use this brush with samples that I get in magazines or other places. It like that it is small and you can really work the foundation in. It reminds me a little of the Sigma which is why I have paired it with this one. I wouldn't say it's as dense. To be honest I don't think any of the Mac brushes are which is why I broke my Mac Brush tradition and went for a sigma. However it is a great little semi-dupe version.

Mac 168

I bought this brush after buying the Sleek Contour Kit. I knew I wanted an angled brush so I naturally went and got the one that Mac sell as I have been growing my Mac collection for a few years now and like my brushes to match because I'm odd like that. Haha. This brush works really well and I'm seriously happy with it. Again, it doesn't shed and is very precise. It is quite soft but is still direct enough. Plus I don't know what it is about this brush, but it's really easy to clean!

Real Techniques Blush Brush

Here's another stray from the Mac Brush pack. I bought this when Boots were having the lethal 3 for 2 earlier on this year but I must say it's absolutely amazing!! Powder blush had been my favourite beauty product ever since my love for makeup began but I had never owned a blush brush! I used to always use the brush below for any sort of powder application so I thought it was time to treat myself. The brush is so soft and hasn't shed on me. I would say that I find it a little difficult to build the colour and get it where I want it because the brush is so soft that it spreads out. However, it may be that I am just used to my dense kabuki brush and the Real Techniques is a polar opposite. I really enjoy using it regardless and would buy more Real Technique brushes in the future.

Mac 182

This is the first Mac Brush that I ever bought. I fell in love with it's amazing softness and soon found out that this brush can be used for so many things. I have used this for setting powder, for face powder and for blush. I switch it up every single time I wash it and just think it's an essential brush to have. Many may think its hard to apply blush with this because it is so big. However it has a slight curved shape to it, so if you apply the powder only on the middle of the brush it creates a really natural flush once applied to the cheeks.

Mac 190

These are all brushes that I no longer use for various reasons. This used to be my liquid foundation brush however I don't like this style of brush anymore. I feel that it paints on my foundation rather than buffing it into the skin and making it look natural. However, if you like this style of brush and it works well for you, there is nothing wrong with it. It is great quality as most Mac brushes are and didn't shed.

Mac 195

This used to be the brush I used for concealer. Again, I don't really like the shape of it. I prefer to apply concealer with my ring finger now. I didn't find this brush very easy to clean either.

Mac 209

This was my gel eyeliner brush. I don't like this because it is a bit to long for my liking. I find it hard to control the strokes and prefer to use something with a shorter brush. If I was to buy a new one I would probably go for a short angled brush instead. Not very easy to clean again.

Mac 282se

Finally we have another limited edition Christmas brush. I haven't found a use for this yet so I tend to apply my highlighter with it and it seems to work well for me. It's easy to clean and is really soft.

I would say that the limited edition brushes I have aren't as great of quality as the permanent ones and I don't think I would get the limited edition ones again but they are great for travelling now that I have them.

Hope this helped and if you know of any brushes you think I may like, leave them in the comments below :)
