Rimmel London Lipstick Lock

During my last 3 for 2 splurge at Boots, I stumbled across this Lipstick Lock by Rimmel. I didn't really know much about it, or if it was going to work at all but I thought I would give it a go and let you all know what I thought.

After contemplating which lipstick to test it with, I thought my beloved Rimmel London Kate Moss 01 lipstick would be the best. It is such a vibrant red that I figured it would be easier to show you how the lipstick wore off throughout the day.

The first thing I noticed about this product was that it stinks. I am serious. This smells like some sort of chemical that you should never put anywhere near your face. I was quite shocked! Plus, when I painted it onto my lips it makes them really really tacky and almost feel like they are shrinking up. You're not allowed to close your mouth until the liquid is fully dry otherwise I presume they would stick together like crazy!

However, I am happy to say that after it had dried, which only takes a few seconds, my lips become a lot more relaxed. I could still tell that I was wearing something but that feeling wears off throughout the day.

As for its staying power - the top picture shows you my lips with the lipstick just applied, and the one below shows you them 4 hours later. I did take another picture 8 hours later but it was too dark and blurry unfortunately. As you can see the vibrancy of the lipstick has worn off, and it has started to wear off the inner part too. This is a bit annoying but understandable as I wouldn't be painting that lipstick lock stuff anywhere near the inside of my mouth.

The picture shows a lot more clearly how the lipstick has faded. When I looked at myself in the mirror it didn't look this bad. I guess it didn't hold it very well. Whats more, is once you have applied this product to your lips, it becomes very difficult to do touch ups over the top. It is possible, but the best way is to just completely take it off an reapply it. Not very convenient at all.

I now feel I should go on a mission to find the best lipstick lock, so watch this space! I shall keep you updated with my progress.
