(1) The Legends London - Alum Matchsticks (£1 per book) Natural after shave astringent.
I received these matchsticks in the March Glossybox and was initially a little confused as to why I had received them in a beauty box. However, it soon dawned on me that these weren't matchsticks in the traditional sense, as they are designed to be used after shaving. So having exfoliated my skin with the Elemis energising skin scrub, and then shaved using a Gillette Fusion gel, I opted to give them a try. All you do is pull out a 'match', wet its tip and run it over your skin. This is done to soothe any irritation after shaving and helps to close pores and stop pollutants creeping in. I should probably point out here that it does tend to leave subtle white lines over your face whilst it is drying, so you might want to rinse your skin if you are in a rush. Overall, I am not quite sure how much of an effect this has had on my skin. My pores do perhaps look slightly smaller than before, I think it is probably worth persevering with and buying a second pack, as it is great value for money (20 matchsticks for £1).
[Shortly after posting this, we received an email from a representative of 'The Legends', who wished to point out that these matches are actually intended for more direct use in the event of irritation or a cut, rather than running it all over the skin. This would make a lot more sense for the purpose of the product! In which case, I expect a pack of matchsticks to last me a very long time, as I rarely experience any post shaving irritation.]
(2) L'oreal Men Expert Hydra Energetic Face Wash Wake-up Effect (RRP: £5.99)
This face wash was part of a spontaneous Boots 3-for-2 purchase and has turned out to be one of my favourite products. It lives up to its claim and leaves your face feeling fresh and invigorated, waking you up and making you feel ready to face a challenging day. It is quick and simple to use. Simply wet your skin with warm water and massage it onto the face in circular motions until it starts to foam slightly, then rinse it off. I am very happy with this product and have noticed an increased smoothness and tautness of my skin.
(3) Lynx Messy Look Re-workable Paste (RRP: £4.29)
Having had my hair cut somewhat shorter than usual, I felt the need to splurge on a different type of hair product. My 3-for-2 trip into Boots resulted in me also purchasing this paste. It helps to create a messy bed-head look, but unfortunately doesn't hold my hair very firmly. Combining it with a stronghold hairspray quickly eradicates this problem though! (Although does mean you can't re-work it easily!). All-in-all I am reasonably satisfied with the product, but just wish it was that little bit stronger!
