Christmas Gift Guide - Sister ♥ Gingerbread Sets

For a fun extra to go under the Christmas tree this year, what better than something you can both do together. John Lewis are selling a fabulous range of Gingerbread Sets this year. All of them are under £15, so it could be a great way to make some treats to share with the family this season.

First up is the Gingerbread Christmas Tree Cookie Pops. I thought that these would be more fun for younger sisters/siblings. The cheapest of the three, at only £10, this set could be heaps of fun on Christmas morning. The set includes: cookie mix, frosting mix, a tree cutter, sparkly blue sugar and lolly sticks. All you need to add is an egg and some butter and the fun can begin. This set makes 12-16 cookies.

Secondly, we have the Gingerbread House Kit. Suitable for older siblings with a creative streak. Why don't you treat not only your sister, but yourself by designing your very own Gingerbread House. This set includes pre-baked gingerbread, gumballs, candy and an icing tray to make it easy to assemble. All you have to do is bake it and then decorate it. It couldn't be more simple.

Finally we have my personal favourite - the Gingerbread Mini Village Kit. My boyfriend has brought this so that his sister, myself and he could of course make this all together. I think that it is such a fun way to get more people involved. With this set you can create five houses. No doubt mine wont look anything like the ones on the picture but I'll give it a go!

I hope this Sister Gift Guide Series gave you some idea of new and original things to buy. If you're interested in more ideas, then keep checking back as my Stocking Fillers Series will be up next :)

Boudoir Prive Review - Rahua Voluminous Shampoo and Conditioner

I received this pair of shampoo and conditioner in my November Boudoir Prive box. I have previously received Rahua haircare products from my Glossybox, but never got around to trying them, so I thought I would make a special effort and use these two straight away.
These appealed to me more than the shampoo and conditioner I got in my Glossybox because this new formulation claims to add bounce, body and shine. A girl could always use a little bit more life in her hair so I was excited.

First off, I have to admit that I was a complete wally. It spent forever trying to get these open in the shower, pulling on them with my teeth (which I never do). Only later did I realise there is an easy shredded edge for you to peel back. Oh dear.

Anyways, getting on to the product, I really did not enjoy using these at all. Personally, I am the type of girl that likes her shampoo to lather up a lot when massaging it into the scalp, but it didn't lather in the slightest! It felt so thin - almost like I was washing my hair with water. Although I had brushed my hair prior to heading in the shower, it soon became extremely knotty whilst rubbing in the shampoo. I thought that maybe my hair wasn't wet enough somehow, so I washed out the product, smoothed our my hair and took the left overs of the shampoo and repeated. It was a little bit better second time round but still wasn't great. I wasn't even a great fan of the smell, though I can't complain about that as I knew I wouldn't be. It smelt exactly like it described it would - a strong lemongrass and green tea scent.

Since I didn't like the shampoo, I wasn't holding my hopes high for the conditioner either. Having said this, I did believe that it was going to be better than the shampoo, simply because conditioners always make my hair feel soft and nourished. Yet again this was a let down. I have never experienced such a thin conditioner. The more I applied, the better it got but it never felt like my hair was going to be nourished. It was as if I wasn't really applying anything!

So, how was it when I got out of the shower? Well, I thought I would have to go straight back in and wash my hair again but thankfully it wasn't that bad. My hair does look shiny, and although it doesn't feel it, it looks soft too. I haven't notice any more volume or bounce in my hair. On the other hand it does feel clean.

I won't be using this again and have already given my second sample to a friend with shorter thinner hair, in the hopes that she can get some good use out of it. For over £50 combined if you brought both of the full sized products, I had expected more.

(note - after contact with Rahua, I found that this product doesn't lather due to it having no Sulphate)

November Boudoir Prive Box!!

My November Boudoir Prive Box is here!

"There are no ugly women in the world, just lazy ones" - Helena Rubinstein
 (Quote on Boudoir Prive Leaflet)

Lets see what I received this month!

(1) Dead Sea Spa Magik Silky Smooth Body Lotion (£7.05 for 350ml) Dead sea minerals are renowned for their therapeutic and cosmetic properties. This creamy and silky body lotion will leave your skin feeling deeply hydrated and nourished. It aims to improve elasticity whilst soothing and preventing dryness. Weird that I got something from this brand in my Glossybox as well this month. This product is much more suiting to me however, because I use body lotion a lot more than bath salts. It doesn't really smell of anything. I haven't tried it yet but will keep you updated.
(2) Korres Wild Rose 24-Hour Moisturiser (£19 for 40ml) A 24-hour moisturising and brightening cream. The Wild Rose oil is a natural source of vitamin C and helps repair fine lines and uneven skin tone. The combination of grape seed and phytic acid work together to maintain a youthful complexion. I was a fan of Korres products before I started getting their items in my beauty boxes. This seems like another lovely moisturizer and I look forward to seeing how I get on with it. From first impressions, it smells lovely.
(3) Rahua NEW Voluminous Shampoo and Conditioner (£26 for Shampoo, £28.50 for Conditioner, both 275ml) Create thick, glossy and bouncy hair with this 100% natural voluminous shampoo and conditioner. The lemongrass and green tea remove excess oils in the hair, whilst jojoba adds moisture and nourishment. Rich in Omega-9, it deeply penetrates the hair and helps restore and strengthen follicles. Another item that I have received in my Glossybox before. However, this is the new formulation that creates voluminous hair. I am about to pop in the shower now so I will use this up and see how I feel about it. I already have pretty thick hair so I don't think I will notice much of a difference in that sense.
(4) Vinies Ayurveda's Soul Luminous Skin Mask (£32.85 for 40gm) As featured on, enhance your complexion with Vinies Lumious Skin Mask. The gentle exfoiliants and natural skin brighteners will even skin tone and keen your skin glowing throughout the day. With the finest ingredients including mint leaf, licorice root and magnolia extract, this product is suitable for all skin types. This stuff smells horrible and looks pretty nasty too. A browny-green glupe of product. However if it does wonders, its all for a good cause. Plus you only have to keep it on your skin for 3-4 minutes. If Vogue likes it, i'll give it a go.
(5) StudioMakeup Rich Hydration Lipstick (£12.25 each) StudioMakeup's creamy and hydrating lipstick. Available in 4 rich and vibrant colours (mine was tender pink), the anti-aging and moisturising formula is perfect for the coming frosty months. I couldn't wait to get this out and try it. There is a picture of me wearing it down below though I would say it doesn't portray its true colour. It is more of a darker rose pink with shimmer. I would agree that it's moisturising. Pretty good price as well.

If your sister is a complete nail polish addict, then look no further than this Christmas Gift Guide. Everything you see is under £20, so you won't break the bank. These are the best of the best Christmas shades and most recent releases from OPI and Nails Inc. Be on trend this season!

I thought that these were super cute. Not only do you get two of the most recent nail polish releases, you also get glitzy nail dividers to help get your sister in the Christmas spirit. only £19.75

If your sister is a bit of a lipgloss junkie as well, this may be a way to cover both bases. Co-ordinating colours that will look great together sets you and your sister up to have a fabulously stylish photograph together - one you won't be embarassed to get out in years to come! These three are £19.75 each as well.

This is a great way to mix her favourite TV show with her favourite beauty product. You can wear these colours on their own, or simply layer one on top of the other to create a cool new effect. If you know who her favourite character is, this may be a great way to incorporate that. Personally I like Lily's shades the best :) All £20 each.

(2) Serena
(3) Blair

November Glossybox!!

My November Glossybox is here! When I picked it up I was surprised because of how heavy it was! Lets see what I got:

Excited! It's looking really good this month!

So here is everything in detail...

To see enlarged photos of each product, look below.
(1) Arbonne FC5 Cooling Foot Creme (Full Size = 118ml - £19) Moisturising, non greasy foot creme hydrates rough, dry skin and soothes, cools and comforts tired feet. This is right up my street at the moment. My feet are looking rather battered from the amount of walking I do on a daily basis, now that I'm back at uni without my car. I will enjoy trying this out and reaping the results.
(2) Dead Sea Spa Magik Dead Sea Bath Salts (Full Size = 1kg - £5.50) 2011 Beauty Awards Winner. Fantastic for Alleviating dry skin conditions as well as a natural exfoliant. Dreads Sea Bath Salts remarkably improves skin texture. I'm not to sure about this as I am more of a shower girl than a bath one. Although it does say you can use it on just your hands and feet if you wish. I might try this out, but be specifically careful because I have really sensitive skin and react to products such as these easily.
(3) Monu Skin Perfector (Full Size = 50ml - £16.25) A weightless cream which instantly smoothes imperfections and enhances natural radiance as it glides into the skin. I skimmed over this when looking at my Glossybox because I got really interested in the other products, but I think this might be the one I will like the best. I suffer with hyperpigmentation so it will be interesting to see if this evens out my skin tone as it claims.
(4) Nail Rock Designer Nail Wraps (Full Size - £6.65) The new NAIL ROCK designer nail wrap range is designed to last up to 7 days on the nails and 8 weeks on the toes. They wont chin or stain the nail, require no drying time and deliver on trend style in just 15 minutes. This was possibly the item I was most excited about though I am a bit gutted that I got the leopard print as they aren't really my thing. Keep tuned because if you like these, you may see them in a giveaway soon.
(5) Serge Lutens Perfume in L'eau Serge Lutens and Vitriol d'Oeillet (Full Size = 100ml - £86 or 50ml - £78) L'eau Serge Lutens - A lasting sensation of wearing a "clean" scent for men and women. Vitrioil d'Oeillet - A new elegant carnation fragrance for both men and women. Finally Glossybox have given out fragrances that I actually like and want to wear. I had to smell these straight away as I am a bit of a perfume addict. These smell amazing. I like the second one a lot more than the first. Plus it is awesome that they come in a spray bottle so they are easier to apply and I can just chuck them in my handbag :)

Great November Glossybox = Happy Girl.

Christmas Gift Guide - Sister ♥ Perfume

Welcome to my Christmas Gift Guide series! If you haven't checked out my Gift Guide for Boyfriends then be sure to click here and have a look.
This is a range of perfumes that I have owned and loved myself, or wanted to buy, and think would be the perfect scent for your sister or even for a friend. So lets get started!

My number one pick is Miss Dior Cherie Blooming Bouqet (£49 for 50ml Toilette). This would definitely be a scent for an older sister. I am a massive fan of the original Miss Dior Cherie perfume and it is my staple go to scent. However I really enjoy this new release too. I found it just before I went on holiday with my boyfriend earlier this year and instantly loved it. It's a much more delicate floral scent to the original. It's fresh, elegant and slightly fruity. If I had a sister I would be so happy to receive this! Unfortunately they do not do a gift set for this fragrance but all other fragrances I mention do.

My next pick is the limited edition Daisy Eau So Fresh by Marc Jacobs (£50 for 75ml, 4ml Toilette and 75ml Body Lotion). I think that this set is such amazing value for money and is so gorgeous and pretty at the same time. This is the perfume that my boyfriend actually brought me on our flight home from holiday. It's a gorgeous floral scent that is so light and easy to wear. Plus the bottle is amazing. I love the flower cap that it comes with and I think that the miniature bottle (4ml) is absolutely adorable. Suitable for any age. If you want a full review click here.

Third is Ricci Ricci by Nina Ricci (£36.50 for 50ml Toilette and 100ml Body Lotion). I am sure you will start to notice a trend here as I also found this one in an airport. I was on my way back from a trip to New York and smelt this in duty free. I can't tell you how much I loved it straight away. Unfortunately I had no money left to buy it but my friend brought a bottle and loves it just as much as I do. Toffee apple and vanilla are some of the notes that are combined with more floral and woody ones. This may sound like a strange combination but trust me, you have to go and smell this - I'm sure that you will love it! The packaging is really cute and girlie - definitely suitable for the mid teens and up.

Now we move on to Lovestruck by Vera Wang (£38 for 30ml Perfume, 75ml Body Lotion and Shower Gel). I think that this is a bit much for such a small bottle of perfume but I think that it is good that you get a shower gel which most perfume sets don't include. This to me has sister written all over the packaging. The lid to the perfume is so fun and girly, and the scent is great. Very floral again but with more citrus notes coming through such as mandarin. With base notes of woods and sheer musk, I just think it creates a fun unique scent.

Finally we have Gucci Rush (£35 for 30ml Toilette and 50ml Body Lotion). Oh my goodness, I can not even begin to tell you how much I LOVE this fragrance. I asked my brother to get me this gift set a few years back after smelling it on one of my friends and absolutely loving it and I still never get over how good it smells. I used to love the design of the bottle but now it really annoys me because it is made out of red plastic and can be a bit flimsy - but honestly, that doesn't put me off at all! Notes that are floral and spicy make this perfume the most appropriate for Christmas. Really amazing. Suitable for 15+.
